On this battlefield littered with bones, Ye Ling once again embarked on his scavenging journey.
It was indeed a helpless situation. No matter how powerful a Spirit Tamer was, after defeating a demon, they still needed to scavenge the dropped materials themselves or have their spiritual pet do it.
No one was exempt from this.
This often led to a problem: a group might be attacking a demon and, after much effort, finally defeat it. Just as they were about to scavenge the materials, another group might swoop in and take everything while they were still busy.
Such situations were not uncommon.
Scavenging materials this way was not only slow but also unreliable. If you missed something, you might never know.
“If only my system had an auto-pickup function,” Ye Ling thought as he scavenged.
At that moment, a prompt suddenly appeared in Ye Ling’s mind.
“Detected current host’s need. Task issued: Successfully level up to Second Rank, First Level to unlock the auto-pickup function. Reward: one mysterious item.”
Upon hearing this prompt, Ye Ling almost thought he had misheard. He had merely wished for an auto-pickup function, and the system actually had one.
This was completely beyond Ye Ling’s expectations.
He never imagined that the system would issue specific tasks based on his needs.
So, if he needed some material and thought about it, would the system issue a corresponding task to give him the material?
With this in mind, Ye Ling decided to give it a try. He began to imagine the materials needed for Blood Phantom’s purification.
However, the system remained silent, showing no response.
In the end, Ye Ling did not receive such a task from the system.
It seemed this was not a system bug but an actual feature that had not yet been unlocked.
To unlock the auto-pickup function, he needed to reach Second Rank, First Level.
Given his current strength, this was still a long way off. He was only at First Rank, Third Level.
Reaching Second Rank, First Level in a few days was not impossible, but it would be extremely difficult.
Just then, a faint white light caught Ye Ling’s attention.
Beneath the skeleton of a Skeleton Sergeant, something seemed to be emitting a faint milky white glow.
Turning around, Ye Ling walked over to the Skeleton Sergeant’s remains and slowly squatted down.
He lifted the skeleton, revealing a finger-length bone emitting a white glow.
Picking up the bone, Ye Ling finally confirmed what it was.
“Immaculate Bone!”
Yes, this was one of the materials needed for Blood Phantom’s evolution to the next stage.
Pure white like jade, without a single flaw, it looked like a piece of white jade. But it was actually a bone from the Skeleton Sergeant.
“Who would’ve thought it would be so easy to get the first evolution material? Seems like luck is on my side.”
Carefully putting away the Immaculate Bone, Ye Ling was naturally overjoyed.
Among the materials needed for Blood Phantom’s evolution to the Gray-eyed Zombie stage, the Immaculate Bone and Heart of Darkness were the hardest to obtain.
As for the Lesser Dark Crystal and Dark Essence, those were relatively easier to get.
Both of these items came from dark demons.
In the Bone Burial Mound, where these skeletons were found, Ye Ling could only obtain two types of materials for Blood Phantom’s evolution.
One was the Immaculate Bone, and the other was the Lesser Dark Crystal.
Continuing to scavenge the battlefield, he obtained a Lesser Dark Crystal.
“Blood Phantom, let’s go find our next target,” Ye Ling said as he approached Blood Phantom.
Blood Phantom didn’t react much, just tilted her head and glanced at Ye Ling, expressionless.
The sudden movement made her look somewhat cute.
Blood Phantom’s face was already delicate, and this action made her look even more adorable.
No one would associate the current Blood Phantom with the bloodthirsty warrior from the battle earlier.
It felt like two different beings.
Even Ye Ling thought so.
Without thinking much, Ye Ling casually reached out and patted Blood Phantom’s head.
Blood Phantom looked at Ye Ling curiously, not quite understanding why he was patting her head.
But since he was her master, Blood Phantom naturally didn’t resist.
The bond between a Spirit Tamer and their spiritual pet was extremely strong.
Of course, this bond wasn’t absolutely unbreakable.
If a Spirit Tamer repeatedly harmed or betrayed their spiritual pet, the pet would develop a rebellious mindset.
Eventually, the pet might even betray the Spirit Tamer.
However, such cases were rare. Generally, no one would mistreat their spiritual pet.
Unless… they had psychological issues or were simply twisted.
