“Blood Phantom, take me up! Remember, do not attack these Wild Wolves, not even a bit! Leave everything to Feng Jiu.”
In times like this, to complete the mission, Ye Ling could only hide.
He couldn’t even use the Spiritual Power Chains to control the Wild Wolf leader, as that would count as interfering with Feng Jiu’s battle.
Although Blood Phantom didn’t understand why her master chose to flee instead of facing the Wild Wolves head-on, she wouldn’t question or doubt his orders.
Upon receiving Ye Ling’s command, she grabbed him and, with a light push of her feet, soared into the sky.
Blood Phantom held Ye Ling, flying high without any intention of descending.
The Wild Wolves on the ground, having missed their target, looked up at Ye Ling in the sky, each one howling in frustration.
“Awooo~!”
“Awooo~!”
…
Their howls were filled with unwillingness. They wanted to avenge their fallen comrades but were utterly powerless to do so.
All they could do was howl helplessly, unable to release their pent-up rage.
“Jiu, hurry up and finish them off, or they’ll all escape.”
Held by Blood Phantom, Ye Ling felt no embarrassment, instead urging Feng Jiu, who was circling nearby, to take action quickly.
The Wild Wolf leader wasn’t stupid. Faced with an unreachable enemy, it wouldn’t just wait around quietly.
Given enough time, it would definitely think of escaping.
If that happened, wouldn’t the system’s mission be a failure? And wouldn’t his double experience bonus card be wasted?
That couldn’t happen!
Ye Ling couldn’t just watch the reward slip away from his grasp.
Upon receiving Ye Ling’s sudden order, Feng Jiu raised her head proudly and let out a delicate snort.
“╭(╯^╰)╮ Hmph! Who do you think you’re ordering around? I’m a Phoenix Bird. It was just an accident that I didn’t finish them all off earlier. This time, none of them will escape.”
Feng Jiu felt a bit annoyed that she hadn’t taken out all the Wild Wolves in one go earlier.
Wasn’t this a blow to her pride?
Why couldn’t they just stand still and accept their fate? Why make her work so hard?
“Phoenix Fire!”
This time, Feng Jiu didn’t use the Hellfire she had used before but instead unleashed her innate Phoenix Fire.
Phoenix Fire was no less damaging than Hellfire and was completely under Feng Jiu’s control.
Around Feng Jiu, fireballs the size of fists began to form, all composed of Phoenix Fire.
“Go!”
With a powerful flap of her wings, the fireballs around Feng Jiu shot towards the ground.
Although Feng Jiu’s skills were limited, her innate Phoenix Fire could be shaped into various forms at her will.
These fireballs were just one of many forms.
The fireballs in the sky flew one by one towards the Wild Wolves on the ground.
The burning fireballs heated the surrounding air, making it feel scorching hot.
The Wild Wolf leader seemed to recall the tragic fate of its subordinates and felt a tinge of fear upon seeing so many fireballs.
“Awooo!”
With a low growl, it ordered all the remaining Wild Wolves to retreat.
The remaining Wild Wolves, loyal to their leader’s command, looked reluctantly at Ye Ling and Feng Jiu in the sky, baring their teeth.
But they had no choice but to turn and leave, fearing they would be burned alive like their comrades.
“Hmph! Do you think you can escape?”
Feng Jiu, flying in the sky, coldly snorted at the fleeing Wild Wolves.
If she let these Wild Wolves escape, wouldn’t that be a disgrace to herself?
She had just claimed it was easy to take them down. If they escaped now, where would her pride go?
The fireballs, initially plummeting straight down, suddenly changed direction just before hitting the ground.
As mentioned before, Feng Jiu could control Phoenix Fire at will, including changing its direction.
The fleeing Wild Wolves felt something was wrong, sensing a scorching heat behind them.
When the Wild Wolf leader looked back, it saw the fireballs rapidly closing in, moving faster than they could run.
The other Wild Wolves also noticed the anomaly behind them, their eyes filled with terror as the fireballs approached.
“Awooo!”
One Wild Wolf was instantly hit by a fireball on its tail, and the scorching flames quickly spread.
The fur on the Wild Wolf’s body was the perfect fuel.
Phoenix Fire rapidly engulfed its entire body. The burning Wild Wolf rolled on the ground, no longer thinking of running.
Phoenix Fire set the grass around the Wild Wolf ablaze, but the flames on its body showed no signs of diminishing.
