Daydreaming again, what a waste of time. I’m a grown man, for heaven’s sake.
“Ahem!”
Sensing the strange look from the female driver, Ye Ling cleared his throat twice.
The female driver snapped back to reality, realizing her gaze had been somewhat impolite.
At that moment, Hong Xiu’s voice came from the side.
“However… Ye Ling is an exception. He is the target all four major academies have been vying for this year. I had to get the principal’s approval and put in a lot of effort to recruit him.
Even though he’s a male student, rules are made to be broken, and there’s nothing that can’t be changed.”
Upon hearing this explanation, the female driver finally understood the situation.
She glanced at Ye Ling in the rearview mirror, curious about what made him so special.
To think that all four major academies would fight over him, and even the Vermilion Bird Academy, which never recruits male students, joined in and eventually won him over.
“I see.”
The female driver nodded in response.
She didn’t ask further about how exceptional Ye Ling was, as it had nothing to do with her.
She just needed to do her job well; the rest wasn’t her concern.
Soon, the car officially entered the city, and various skyscrapers came into view.
“Amazing, they can build so high! It didn’t seem like much from the airship, but now I realize these buildings are much taller than those in our city.”
Leaning against the window, Yun Yi exclaimed excitedly as she looked at the tall buildings lining the streets.
You couldn’t blame her; Skyshine City couldn’t afford to build such tall structures. If a powerful flying demon noticed them, it would be a disaster.
After all, such tall buildings would be like beacons, easily attracting attention.
Skyshine City didn’t have such advanced defense systems or enough powerful Spirit Tamers, so building such high structures was out of the question.
Seeing Yun Yi so lively and excited, Hong Xiu shook her head and smiled wryly.
“This height is average. The tallest buildings aren’t even here. But we don’t have time to wander around now. Once you have free time, you can explore the city at your leisure.”
“Yes, Teacher Hong!”
Yun Yi responded quickly, seemingly looking forward to her future life in the Sacred City.
As for Ye Ling, he remained quiet the entire time, scanning the scenery outside the window without any change in expression.
Mainly because, in his previous life, Ye Ling had seen far too many skyscrapers, much taller than these.
Noticing Ye Ling’s calm demeanor, Hong Xiu nodded to herself.
To remain so composed in the face of the Sacred City’s grandeur was indeed impressive.
Hong Xiu had encountered students who would exclaim and shout all the way, which was quite annoying.
Since they had to cross a significant part of the Sacred City to reach Vermilion Bird Academy, the journey took a while.
Ye Ling even took a nap in the car, and they finally arrived at their destination, Vermilion Bird Academy.
The car had stopped, and Yun Yi, seeing Ye Ling still resting, immediately reached out to shake him.
“Ye Ling, wake up! Ye Ling, we’re here.”
She shook him while calling out.
Woken up suddenly, Ye Ling opened his eyes and found that the car had indeed stopped.
“Are we there?”
“Of course we are, hurry up.”
With that, Yun Yi quickly opened the car door and got out.
Rubbing his eyes to wake up, Ye Ling finally stepped out of the car.
When he saw the entrance of Vermilion Bird Academy, his eyes widened slightly in surprise.
The academy’s entrance was like a city gate, massive and imposing.
On either side of the gate, two Vermilion Birds were engraved, facing each other.
At the top of the gate, there was a gigantic stone statue of a Vermilion Bird, painted in vibrant colors, looking incredibly lifelike.
“This academy gate… it’s enormous!”
Yun Yi’s mouth hung open in shock as she stared at the Vermilion Bird statue above the gate.
Everyone visiting Vermilion Bird Academy for the first time had a similar reaction.
Such a grand structure was undoubtedly one of the Federation’s finest.
“No need to be so surprised. Everyone’s like this the first time. You’ll get used to it. Come on, I’ll take you to register.”
At this moment, Hong Xiu’s voice came from the front.
Unnoticed, Hong Xiu had already walked ahead and was now at the academy gate.
“Teacher Hong, we’re coming! Ye Ling, hurry up!”
Yun Yi waved and ran over quickly.
Compared to Yun Yi’s enthusiasm, Ye Ling appeared much calmer, following at a steady pace.
At the gate, they went through a series of identity checks. Since Ye Ling and Yun Yi were new students without ID Cards, they could only enter the academy with Hong Xiu’s assistance.
