Chapter 159 – The Misunderstanding Between Pets and Spiritual Pets

After getting up, Ye Ling quickly washed up and checked the time. Seeing that it was still within breakfast hours, he decided to grab something to eat.

Fortunately, Ye Ling had a decent physical constitution; otherwise, after last night’s ordeal, he wouldn’t have been able to get up at this hour.

Feng Jiu perched on Ye Ling’s right shoulder, while Blood Phantom stood beside him on the left.

As he opened the door, Ye Ling happened to run into Yun Yi, who had just stepped out.

“Ye Ling? You’re actually awake! I knocked on your door earlier, but you didn’t respond.”

Seeing Ye Ling, Yun Yi immediately walked over, remembering how she had called for him earlier but received no answer, and couldn’t help but complain.

Ye Ling smiled wryly and explained helplessly, “Sorry, I was up late last night and didn’t hear you.”

If he had gone straight to bed after the skirmish last night, he wouldn’t have been in such a deep sleep when Yun Yi came calling.

But after returning last night, Ye Ling was busy breaking through, evolving, and contracting a new spiritual pet. It took quite a bit of time, and when he finally went to bed, he was caught between the extremes of ice and fire, making it hard to fall asleep.

Being able to get up at this time was already quite an achievement.

“Forget it, I forgive you. But… Ye Ling, what is that? Is it your pet?”

Yun Yi wasn’t the type to hold grudges; her earlier complaint was just a passing remark.

Her gaze quickly fell on Feng Jiu perched on Ye Ling’s right shoulder, her eyes full of curiosity.

Clearly, when Ye Ling boarded the airship earlier, Yun Yi hadn’t seen him with any pets. Naturally, she was curious about the sudden appearance of one.

Most importantly, why did this pet look so beautiful? With its orange feathers, long tail, emerald green eyes, and various other colors adorning its body, it was stunning.

Such a beautiful pet would make any girl, including Yun Yi, envious. Who wouldn’t want one? No girl could resist such charm.

Unfortunately, Yun Yi had completely misunderstood. Feng Jiu was not an ordinary pet but a spiritual pet.

Last night, before resting, Ye Ling had specifically instructed Feng Jiu not to speak in front of others to avoid causing a commotion.

After all, a First Rank spiritual pet speaking human language was unbelievable.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, Ye Ling had repeatedly warned Feng Jiu.

With her somewhat haughty temperament from last night, Feng Jiu might have already snapped back at Yun Yi by now.

But remembering Ye Ling’s instructions, Feng Jiu glared fiercely at Yun Yi and turned her head away.

Seeing Feng Jiu’s fierce glare, Yun Yi was astonished and exclaimed, “Your pet can understand me! This is amazing!”

Up to this point, Yun Yi still thought of Feng Jiu as a pet, not realizing she was Ye Ling’s second spiritual pet.

Ye Ling could naturally sense Feng Jiu’s thoughts. After signing the contract, their minds were somewhat connected.

To prevent Yun Yi from continuing, Ye Ling explained proactively, “Yun Yi, you misunderstood. She is my second spiritual pet, Feng Jiu, not just a pet.

Of course, she can understand you. Please don’t call her a pet anymore, or she might get angry.”

Realizing it wasn’t a pet, Yun Yi was taken aback. “Oh, it’s not a pet, it’s a spirit… huh? A spiritual pet?!”

When Yun Yi finally processed it, she stared at Ye Ling in disbelief.

“Ye… Ye Ling, you’re not joking, right? You have a second spiritual pet? Does that mean you… you…?”

Too excited to speak clearly, Yun Yi stammered, and Ye Ling nodded.

“That’s right. Last night, I successfully broke through to the Second Rank. Now, I’m a Second Rank Spirit Tamer.

And Feng Jiu is my second spiritual pet, so please don’t call her a pet anymore.”

Hearing this from Ye Ling, Yun Yi had no doubt. Ye Ling had no reason to deceive her; whether he had broken through to the Second Rank would be easily verified by their teacher later.

In a daze, Yun Yi couldn’t believe Ye Ling had broken through to a Second Level Spirit Tamer just last night.

How could there be such a gap between people?

She was still at the First Rank Seventh Level, almost breaking through to the First Rank Eighth Level.

But compared to Ye Ling, Yun Yi suddenly realized how far behind she was.

Ye Ling wasn’t even nineteen yet and was already a Second Rank Spirit Tamer.

Such a rapid upgrade speed was hard for Yun Yi to accept.

Of course, she was also genuinely happy for Ye Ling.
