Chapter 84 – Meet, Huo Family’s Second Child

When he finally saw Huo Xian’er’s face clearly, Chen Zhi was stunned on the spot.

“Huo… Huo… Huo…”

He stammered for a long time but couldn’t say Huo Xian’er’s name, clearly shocked.

“Huo Xian’er,” Ye Ling calmly introduced.

Still in disbelief, Chen Zhi rubbed his eyes hard, trying to see more clearly.

With a bitter smile, Chen Zhi said enviously, “It’s really her! Old Ye, my dear Ye, what on earth did you do to get involved with the Young Lady of the Huo family?”

It was impossible not to be envious. To be associated with the Young Lady of the Huo family in Skyshine City was no small feat.

Even if one couldn’t pass the assessment and become a Spirit Tamer, future job prospects would still be smooth sailing, just based on the Huo family’s reputation in Skyshine City.

Chen Zhi couldn’t fathom what kind of luck his buddy had to get involved with Huo Xian’er.

He originally thought Ye Ling passing the first phase of the assessment was already lucky enough. But comparing himself to Ye Ling was just infuriating.

“Ye Ling, who is this…?”

Huo Xian’er walked over, looking at Ye Ling and the man beside him with some confusion.

Initially, Huo Xian’er thought it would just be her and Ye Ling this time, which made her quite happy. It meant Ye Ling considered her a friend, and their relationship had taken a step forward.

But she didn’t expect there would be someone else.

This gathering was really just a friends’ dinner, with no other agenda.

Thinking about it, Huo Xian’er felt a bit disheartened. Was she not attractive? Or had she lost her charm?

Why did Ye Ling seem so uninterested in her?

After all, she was the school beauty, with top-notch looks.

But in front of her, Ye Ling seemed like a blockhead, showing no interest, which was a big blow to Huo Xian’er.

“Let me introduce you. No need to introduce Huo Xian’er; you definitely know her. This is my good buddy, Chen Zhi, who has often helped me in the past.

Yes, he also passed the first phase of the assessment. We might even meet in the next phase.”

After introducing them, Huo Xian’er finally knew who this person was.

“Hello, Miss Huo.”

Seeing Huo Xian’er, Chen Zhi became very reserved, unlike his earlier teasing of Ye Ling.

Especially when he thought about teasing Ye Ling about whether the person he brought was his girlfriend, Chen Zhi felt even more embarrassed.

After all, she was the Young Lady of the Huo family, not someone he could easily joke about.

Huo Xian’er nodded politely. “Hello.”

She only responded briefly, not saying much more.

After all, they had no connection, only linked by Ye Ling.

Without Ye Ling, they might never have had the chance to meet.

Being from different social classes, they were unlikely to have any interaction.

Seeing Chen Zhi suddenly become so reserved, Ye Ling patted his shoulder with a smile. “Alright, let’s go in and eat.”

Then, the three of them walked towards the Glory Grand Hotel.

As they left, a bodyguard-like figure from the car Huo Xian’er had arrived in took out a phone and made a call.

“Sir, Miss is at the Glory Grand Hotel, seemingly having a meal with others. Should I follow them in?”

Clearly, this bodyguard was arranged by Huo Xian’er’s father, Huo Qingshan, to protect her.

On the other end of the line, a mature and steady middle-aged man’s voice came through.

“No need. Since they are Xian’er’s friends, I trust her judgment. I’m curious, though, who is this friend of hers?

Check out who this friend is. I want to see if he has any ulterior motives in approaching Xian’er.”

Following his master’s orders, the bodyguard nodded in agreement. “Yes, sir. I’ll investigate immediately.”

Given the Huo family’s status in Skyshine City, finding information on someone was a piece of cake.

At this moment, in the Huo family courtyard, Huo Qingshan was sitting in a pavilion.

After hanging up the phone, Huo Qingshan’s expression remained unchanged.

He wasn’t worried about Huo Xian’er’s safety or her being deceived.

He had great confidence in his clever daughter, whom he had groomed as the next head of the family from a young age. Huo Xian’er was not someone easily fooled.

Moreover, this was Skyshine City. Who would dare act recklessly in front of the Huo family?

“Dad.”

At this moment, a youthful and vibrant figure ran over from the corridor.

Hearing the voice, Huo Qingshan’s face lit up with a kind smile.

Seeing the vibrant figure before him, Huo Qingshan laughed, “Isn’t this Ling? Why aren’t you studying today?”

Dressed in a green outfit, with a delicate face and a slender figure, she had long legs. Apart from some subtle differences, she looked very much like Huo Xian’er.

This was Huo Qingshan’s other daughter, Huo Ling, Huo Xian’er’s younger sister, and the second Young Lady of the Huo family.

However, the two were not born in the same year, with a little over a year’s difference between them.

Huo Ling was born a little over a year after Huo Xian’er.

Currently, Huo Ling was a sophomore at Skyshine High School. Around this time next year, she would be taking the Spirit Tamer assessment.

Upon hearing this, Huo Ling’s eyes sparkled. “Oh, Dad, the things they teach at school are too easy. I learn them in no time, so it gets boring.”

Pouting, Huo Ling pulled a chair over and sat next to Huo Qingshan.

Despite being a lady from a distinguished family, compared to her sister Huo Xian’er, Huo Ling was quite mischievous.

This was also because she had been doted on by her father since childhood. No matter what good things there were, her father would find a way to get them for her.

Unlike the mature and responsible Huo Xian’er, Huo Ling was still very much a child.

But Huo Qingshan was happy with this.

He had already groomed one excellent daughter; there was no need to deprive the other of her freedom.

Though he felt guilty about the hardships Huo Xian’er had endured, Huo Qingshan had no choice. It was all for the family.

“By the way, where’s my sister? I wanted to congratulate her on passing the first phase of the assessment, but I don’t see her.” Huo Ling asked curiously.
