Chapter 38 – Trouble solved

The sudden change caught the Steel-winged Bird off guard, just as it thought the delicious meal was about to fall into its beak.

Flapping its wings, which were as hard as steel, it tried to break free from the control of the Spiritual Power Chains.

But Ye Ling, who had already set up the trap, would never let it escape so easily.

“Blood Phantom!”

Ye Ling’s low shout echoed.

A blood-red glow emanated from the Spiritual Pet Seal, and Blood Phantom, clad in her Rainbow Blood Garment, appeared once again beside Ye Ling.

“Finish it!”

As soon as Blood Phantom appeared, Ye Ling issued the kill order.

Although the Spiritual Power Chains he was using had successfully restrained the Steel-winged Bird, they wouldn’t hold for long. If this dragged on, the bird would eventually break free.

The Steel-winged Bird was cunning. If it escaped this time, catching it again would be even harder.

Its vigilance was too high; this time, it had to be dealt with to avoid future trouble.

Blood Phantom, receiving the order, silently moved forward.

At this moment, the Steel-winged Bird was suspended mid-air, struggling fiercely.

The height from the ground wasn’t too high, a distance Blood Phantom could easily cover with a leap.

With a light step, Blood Phantom sprang into the air.

Seeing Blood Phantom rapidly approaching, the Steel-winged Bird panicked.

It flapped its wings desperately, trying every possible way to struggle free.

Simultaneously, feather-like sharp blades shot out from its wings.

Each feather gleamed with a cold light, seemingly intent on shredding Blood Phantom to pieces.

However, such attacks posed no threat to Blood Phantom.

She effortlessly weaved through the sharp feathers.

At this moment, Blood Phantom looked like a dancing fairy.

Her movements in the air resembled a dance more than a battle.

The feathers that missed Blood Phantom shot straight toward Ye Ling.

“Ding ding ding!!”

The hard feathers struck Ye Ling’s Spiritual Power Shield, producing crisp sounds.

If not for the preemptive release of the shield, Ye Ling would have been riddled with holes by the attack.

But all of this was within Ye Ling’s calculations.

Dodging the Steel-winged Bird’s feather barrage, Blood Phantom easily landed on its sturdy back.

Without hesitation, she extended her right hand, her long, pitch-black nails emitting a deathly aura.

“Shhh!”

In a flash, Blood Phantom’s right hand pierced through the Steel-winged Bird’s skull.

“Squawk!!”

As its head was punctured, the Steel-winged Bird let out a shrill cry.

Its wings flapped even more vigorously.

The blue Spiritual Power Chains binding its wings began to show cracks.

Ye Ling was sweating profusely, struggling to maintain control over the chains.

The more fiercely the Steel-winged Bird struggled, the harder it was for Ye Ling to control.

But soon, the bird’s cries grew weaker.

Its wing flaps slowed.

Finally, the Steel-winged Bird’s wings stopped moving, and Ye Ling breathed a sigh of relief.

Releasing his control, the Spiritual Power Chains shattered the moment Ye Ling let go, dissipating into blue specks of Spiritual Power in the air.

The unsupported Steel-winged Bird plummeted straight to the ground.

Just before it hit the ground, Blood Phantom lightly leaped off its back.

“Boom!!”

The Steel-winged Bird crashed heavily to the ground.

A nearby tree was unlucky enough to be crushed by the falling bird.

Blood Phantom landed steadily beside Ye Ling, a few drops of the bird’s blood still dripping from her black nails.

The crash kicked up a cloud of dust.

“Cough, cough!”

Ye Ling coughed twice, waving his hand to disperse the dust.

After a while, the dust settled, and Ye Ling walked over to the fallen Steel-winged Bird.

Standing before its corpse, Ye Ling finally saw the wound on its head clearly.

Five deep finger marks were still bleeding.

Seeing this, Ye Ling glanced at Blood Phantom’s hand and unconsciously touched the back of his own head.

If that had been a human head, the brain would have been scooped out.

The thought made Ye Ling shiver.

He shook his head vigorously, trying to dispel the strange thoughts.

Blood Phantom was his Spiritual Pet; why would he have such odd thoughts?

The Steel-winged Bird had many evolution materials on it.

Of course, this mainly applied to adult Steel-winged Birds. This one was still immature.

How many evolution materials it had was unknown; Ye Ling had to painstakingly search.

After some effort, Ye Ling finally cleaned up the corpse and successfully extracted the evolution materials.

As expected, the immature Steel-winged Bird didn’t have many evolution materials.

However, the higher-grade materials it did have were quite valuable.

Though he couldn’t use them now, they would fetch a good price.

Storing the materials, Ye Ling looked at the Steel-winged Bird’s corpse and sighed.

“I need to advance to the Second Rank soon. Otherwise, collecting materials myself every time is too much trouble.”

Shaking his head at the corpse, Ye Ling lamented how much time it took just to gather some evolution materials.
