Chapter 29 – Gather together

Chen Zhi snapped back to reality and pushed Ye Ling’s hand off his shoulder.

“Hey man, stop joking around. Why would I be scared? I was just lost in thought.”

Hearing this, Ye Ling chuckled mischievously.

“Alright, alright, I get it. Happy now?”

With that, Ye Ling stood up and walked out of the classroom.

Chen Zhi quickly followed suit, trailing behind Ye Ling.

Originally, no one in the class had made a move yet. Liu Wu was planning to be the first to step out and show off.

But just as he was about to stand up, Ye Ling and Chen Zhi left the classroom one after the other.

“Aren’t they afraid?”

“Didn’t see that coming. Ye Ling might have a useless spiritual pet, but he’s got guts.”

“I’m starting to see him in a new light.”

Seeing the two of them leave first, the class erupted in chatter.

Even the girls who used to look down on Ye Ling now had a hint of newfound respect for him.

Witnessing this, Liu Wu’s face twisted in anger.

Clenching his right fist tightly, Liu Wu was fuming inside.

He wished he could charge up and knock Ye Ling to the ground with one punch.

But he didn’t dare.

Even if he had a hundred times the courage, Liu Wu wouldn’t dare cause trouble in school.

If he did, the school wouldn’t let him off, and not even his father could help him.

“Hmph! Let’s see what you do later!”

With a cold snort, Liu Wu stood up and followed them.

Soon after, the other students in the classroom began to move as well.

They knew that today, they were destined to participate in the assessment, and no one could change that.

If it’s a blessing, it won’t be a curse; if it’s a curse, it can’t be avoided.

If they couldn’t pass the assessment, they would have to return to the life of an ordinary person.

Students from all classes began to file out of their classrooms.

Led by their class teachers, they headed towards the plaza one by one.

The entire plaza was set to gather all the senior students.

Every year, Skyshine City Higher Education Institution had around one to two thousand students taking the assessment.

However, less than half, sometimes even fewer, could pass the first assessment.

And among those who passed, less than half could join the Spirit Tamer Academy.

Among those, only a handful could enter the top Spirit Tamer Academy.

The top ten spots were usually occupied by the strongest students in the school.

Generally, there were hardly any surprises.

Over a thousand students gathered in the plaza.

The front of the wide plaza was cleared out.

This area would soon be occupied by representatives from all the Spirit Tamer Academies.

Here, the positions of each academy were arranged in order.

The four top Spirit Tamer Academies were naturally at the forefront.

Following them were the advanced Spirit Tamer Academies, then the intermediate ones, and finally the lower-level ones.

Altogether, there were dozens of academies.

At this moment, a squad of the Lord’s Mansion’s personal guards marched in from outside.

Clearly, these guards were paving the way.

Soon after, the towering Shang Lingkong strode in with an air of dominance.

Behind him were representatives from the four top Spirit Tamer Academies, followed by representatives from other Spirit Tamer Academies.

For these students, it was their first time witnessing such a grand spectacle.

“Wow! That’s the representative from Azure Dragon Spirit Tamer Academy. The Azure Dragon emblem on his clothes is so imposing!”

“I think the White Tiger is more impressive.”

“For us girls, the Vermilion Bird is the prettiest.”

The students below were buzzing with excitement.

They talked as if they had already joined those Spirit Tamer Academies.

But most of them were just indulging in wishful thinking.

They knew their limits; only the geniuses of the school could enter the four top Spirit Tamer Academies.

In another class, Huo Xian’er stood at the front.

This position was arranged based on the strength of the students in the class.

Standing at the front was undoubtedly the strongest in the class.

Huo Xian’er’s gaze lingered on the representatives of the Spirit Tamer Academies for only a moment before moving on.

She scanned the crowd of students, seemingly looking for someone.

That person, of course, was Ye Ling, who had given her a great shock a few days ago.

Huo Xian’er knew which class Ye Ling was in, but since Ye Ling hadn’t revealed his strength in his class, he was positioned at the back of the line.

With so many people blocking the view, Huo Xian’er couldn’t see Ye Ling.

After scanning for a long time without spotting Ye Ling, Huo Xian’er felt a slight twinge of disappointment.

Over the past few days, to avoid being surpassed by Ye Ling, Huo Xian’er had pushed herself to the limit.

Finally, just yesterday, Huo Xian’er’s Earth Azure Dragon successfully broke through to First Rank, Eighth Level.

Along with it, she herself had also successfully broken through to First Rank, Eighth Level.

Compared to before, she had become even stronger.
