Chapter 27 – Assessment

Liu Wu often faced severe reprimands from his father at home.

His father would scold him for not working hard enough, despite having such a good family background, and still not being among the top students.

For a common student, reaching First Rank Fifth Level might indeed be impressive.

But for Liu Wu, who had the support of his family, it was far from enough.

You have to understand, the top students in the higher education institutions were already at First Rank Seventh or Eighth Level.

First Rank Fifth Level was simply not up to par.

Although the differences between levels within the First Rank were not vast, they still represented a gap.

Even being just one level stronger was still a gap.

The Liu Family was a second-tier family, and Liu Wu’s father, Liu Yun, had already reached Fifth Rank Tenth Level.

However, he had been stuck at this level for a long time.

Other heads of second-tier families were not as strong as him, but their children were all stronger than Liu Wu.

This situation was a great embarrassment for Liu Yun.

Therefore, Liu Yun was very dissatisfied with Liu Wu.

Whenever he had the chance, he would give Liu Wu a stern lecture.

Feeling frustrated and unable to vent his anger at home, Liu Wu sought a sense of presence in his class.

He couldn’t find this sense of presence at school because his strength was not enough.

None of the other family scions were weaker than him.

Even within his own clan, there were those stronger than him.

He had no qualifications to seek a sense of presence there.

But it was different in his class. Apart from him, there were basically no other children from prominent families.

Even if there were, they were from smaller families.

And these smaller family children were at most on par with him, some even weaker.

No one dared to offend him.

Therefore, Liu Wu could act domineeringly in this class.

Of course, this was limited to this class only.

Liu Wu particularly disliked Ye Ling, who had excellent academic performance.

Because Ye Ling was better looking and had better grades, which made Liu Wu feel very embarrassed.

Bullying Ye Ling became something Liu Wu enjoyed doing.

Every time he mocked Ye Ling, it seemed to release the long-suppressed anger in his heart.

Over time, Liu Wu began to see Ye Ling as his punching bag.

However, Liu Wu didn’t dare to physically harm Ye Ling openly.

After all, the principal of Skyshine City Higher Education Institution was the lord of the city, and Liu Wu didn’t dare to act recklessly here.

In the past, Ye Ling often endured Liu Wu’s verbal abuse.

But despite the humiliation, Ye Ling never fought back.

Because he couldn’t afford to provoke Liu Wu, being just a common person with no background.

Liu Wu, on the other hand, was the son of a second-tier family’s head. How could Ye Ling dare to provoke him?

However, after Ye Ling’s rebirth, he didn’t care about Liu Wu’s verbal abuse at all.

Having been through the grind in another world’s workplace, Ye Ling didn’t respond immediately to such insults.

After his rebirth, Ye Ling was more focused on how to become stronger.

Everything could be reclaimed once he became powerful.

Without strength, anything he did would be limited.

Therefore, Ye Ling always treated Liu Wu’s mockery as if it were just wind passing by his ears, not even bothering to listen.

This made Liu Wu feel like he was punching cotton.

Soft and without any resistance.

The more Ye Ling acted this way, the more annoyed Liu Wu became.

In Liu Wu’s eyes, even if he wasn’t a genius, he was still the top student in the class.

And Ye Ling, being just a waste, had no right to ignore him.

Every time Ye Ling ignored him, Liu Wu became even more furious.

“Hmph! Pretending to be something you’re not. Let’s see what you do after today.”

Liu Wu scoffed at Ye Ling’s claim of getting into the top Spirit Tamer Academy.

He even thought Ye Ling was daydreaming.

“This time, I want to see you fall into the abyss and never climb out.”

The thought of Ye Ling becoming a common person, unable to even join a low-level Spirit Tamer Academy, made Liu Wu feel very satisfied.

Especially when he imagined Ye Ling’s miserable appearance during the upcoming assessment, Liu Wu felt very pleased.

Soon, the class teacher who had previously approved Ye Ling’s leave arrived.

He began to explain the components of the exam to the students.

The assessment was the same every year, divided into two parts.

The first part was the survival test.

All participating students would be teleported to a fixed secret realm.

In this secret realm, there were only First Rank Magic Beasts, with the strongest being First Rank Tenth Level.

All students had to survive in this secret realm for three days.

After three days, those who didn’t forfeit and successfully survived would pass the first part of the assessment.

Of course, the assessment wasn’t absolutely safe.

If students couldn’t choose to give up in time and insisted on holding on, the school wouldn’t be responsible if they died at the hands of Magic Beasts.

This was the rule.

Of course, if they chose to forfeit, they would be directly teleported out.

The survival test not only assessed the students’ strength but also their survival skills.

In the wild, staying alive was the most important thing. If they couldn’t even manage that, how could they become Spirit Tamers?
