Chapter 20 – Heavenly Demon, Earthly Demon, Human Demon

Zachary Song said enviously, “So that’s how it is. Brother Ye, you truly are blessed with great fortune, to accidentally consume Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures… Although there are a few in the royal treasury, my father has stationed heavy guards around them, and they are all tributes for the Foundation Establishment cultivators in the sect. I can’t even get a whiff of them, let alone eat them.”

Elijah Wang was also extremely envious. “Those treasures that gather the essence of the sun and moon are hard to come by, even if you have the money. Junior Brother Ye, your luck is through the roof!”

Accidentally consuming Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures is both common and uncommon in the cultivation world.

It’s common because you often hear similar rumors and stories, but if you were to investigate, among the tens of thousands of disciples in a major sect, very few have actually consumed them in the mortal world.

Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures are usually guarded by powerful demonic creatures, or they are the crystallized magical power of the creatures themselves. To consume them, one must first slay the demonic beasts.

And how could mortals have such strength?

Only those with incredibly good luck might stumble upon a demonic beast that died of old age or sudden death for some reason.

Alaric Ye’s words were half-true, half-false, serving to cover up the abnormal speed of his future cultivation.

Although Alaric Ye only had a mid-grade Spiritual Root, he had already discovered more uses for the Ancient Ring of the Insect Emperor. For example, he could cultivate and plant flowers, trees, and herbs in that desert space. As long as he consumed Spirit Stones, the growth rate would be several times, even dozens of times, faster than outside.

If he could plant ordinary flowers and trees, he could also plant Spirit Herbs and Spirit Medicine!

However, Alaric Ye currently did not have any Spirit Herb or Spirit Medicine seeds. Once he became an Outer Sect disciple, the resources and space available to him would greatly increase, allowing him to conduct more experiments in that space.

To conduct his experiments, Alaric Ye even borrowed three Spirit Stones from Elijah Wang, using the excuse that they were for his own cultivation.

Today was the full moon, and in the private room of Juyuan Pavilion, the three began to exchange information about the sect. In truth, Alaric Ye was mainly listening, as he had no secrets useful to Zachary Song and Elijah Wang.

Zachary Song said, “Yesterday, the patrol team in the Dragon-seeking Mountain Range caves was ambushed by remnants of the Demonic Sect and the Earthly Demon clan. The Foundation Establishment cultivator leading the Taiji Sect was killed, and none of the fifty Qi Refining cultivators in the team survived. Their deaths were extremely tragic. Our Top Xuan Sect also had more than ten Inner Sect disciples in the patrol team, and they were all killed!”

“In addition, within the Great Xuan Dynasty, the disasters caused by Demonic Persons from the Demonic Sect are increasing. Every day, thousands of civilians die at the hands of Demonic Persons, and thousands more are abducted, their fates unknown.”

“The activities of the Demonic Sect are becoming more frequent. The alliance between the Human Demons and Earthly Demons is already a fact, an unprecedented event. The leaders of the three major sects are all contemplating strategies to deal with it.”

“I believe that in the near future, the Immortal-Demon War in the Dragon-seeking Mountain Range will inevitably reignite!”

Upon hearing this, Elijah Wang’s face turned slightly pale, and he cursed, “Damn, our luck is terrible. The Immortal-Demon War happens every five hundred years on average, and it just so happens to occur when we are newly entering the cultivation world. If the war really breaks out, we’ll all be cannon fodder!”

“The three of us won’t even cause a ripple in the war. If billions of Earthly Demons break out of the caves, the cultivation world in the Dragon-seeking Mountain Range will be left barren, and the mortal world will become a living hell!”

Alaric Ye now understood very clearly that demons were divided into three types: Human Demons, Earthly Demons, and Heavenly Demons.

Human Demons are humans who practice demonic cultivation, ruthless and bloodthirsty, with insatiable desires, willing to do anything for immortality.

Earthly Demons are the Shura clan from the underground, born destroyers and devourers, who love to raise humans as livestock and consume their flesh and blood.

Heavenly Demons are extraterrestrial Heavenly Demons, intangible and invisible, mere spiritual entities that feed on negative emotions and possess human bodies. The starry sky beyond is endless, and so are the extraterrestrial Heavenly Demons.

Among them, Human Demons are the most common, Earthly Demons are less common, and Heavenly Demons are the rarest.

However, in terms of danger, Heavenly Demons are the most terrifying. When they descend, nothing survives, and all living beings become their targets for possession. Each descent of a Heavenly Demon leaves thousands of miles desolate.

Earthly Demons are the second most dangerous. The surface world is vast, and so is the underground world. The Earthly Demon clan numbers in the trillions. If human cultivators lose control over the entrances to the demonic caves, Earthly Demons will flood the surface, and mortals will become their livestock. They are extremely powerful, ferocious, and bloodthirsty!

Human Demons are the least dangerous. After all, they are still human and won’t completely annihilate ordinary people. To maintain their legacy, they need mortals as their foundation. The territories controlled by the Demonic Sect are known as Demon Nations!

From a racial perspective, Human Demons have always been opposed to Earthly Demons and Heavenly Demons.

But now, the Human Demons in the Dragon-seeking Mountain Range have gone mad and allied with the Earthly Demons. This is undoubtedly terrible news for the righteous path in the Dragon-seeking Mountain Range.

Elijah Wang said, “Let me tell you some news you might not know. To cope with the current crisis, the three major righteous sects are all planning to amend their sect rules, intensifying the competition among disciples and increasing the investment in disciple training. Interactions between disciples of different sects will also become more frequent.”

“I heard from my father that some elders have suggested that disciple conflicts and killings should no longer violate sect rules. This means that our future days might not be as comfortable as they are now!”

“Of course, such a radical proposal won’t be fully adopted. Otherwise, we would be no different from the Demonic Sect. The most likely scenario is partial adoption, such as replacing the death penalty for internal killings with milder punishments.”

Upon hearing this, Alaric Ye’s face changed slightly, while Zachary Song seemed deep in thought.

Alaric Ye had been in the Top Xuan Sect for two months and had never seen any deadly conflicts among disciples, thanks to the strict sect rules that no one dared to break. In such an environment, cultivators lived comfortably with little pressure.

Conflicts between cultivators were usually resolved through arbitration by the Top Xuan Sect’s enforcement team. Whoever the arbitration deemed right was right, and whoever was told to compensate had to compensate.

It was all about righteousness and reason.

But if the sect rules were amended, conflicts between cultivators would be resolved through strength, where the strong prevailed. It would be the law of the jungle.

The environment would completely change!

Zachary Song said calmly, “Regardless of whether the sect rules change, we must quickly improve our own strength. I believe that in the future, each of us will face the challenges of the demonic path. As Elijah just said, the weak can only be cannon fodder, dying without causing a ripple. The strong, at least, have the ability to protect themselves!”

“If we can survive the Immortal-Demon War, we will all achieve something great!”
