Terra Su waved his hand and said to Princess Mia, “Your Highness, forgive my rudeness, but I have a few words to say to you.”
Princess Mia blinked and said, “Go ahead.”
“You know well that Qianyin is a simple-minded person, yet you still tempted her to venture into the Monster Beast’s lair with you. Can you really protect her? If anything happens, whose responsibility would it be?” Terra Su had been holding these words in for a long time, and now that the danger had passed, he let them out in a rush.
Princess Mia slowly blinked her clear, watery eyelashes and said, “Mr. Su, are you blaming me for taking Qianyin on an adventure?”
Terra Su shook his head. “I don’t have the time to blame you, I just want to say, this is the only time. If something similar happens again, even if you are a princess, I won’t be polite.”
With that, Terra Su ignored Princess Mia and took Gu Qianyin aside to tend to the wound on his arm.
Gu Qianyin rarely saw Terra Su angry, and at this moment, she felt a mix of emotions—partly a small joy, yet also a bit uneasy about Terra Su’s anger towards Princess Mia.
Princess Mia lowered her long eyelashes, silent, lost in her thoughts.
Terra Su took Gu Qianyin to a nearby stream to treat his wound, applying Gold Wound Medicine.
Afterward, Terra Su returned to the Silver Moon Beast’s corpse and took its horn and heart. For a Monster Beast at the third level of the Transforming Realm, the horn and heart were its most valuable parts, both useful in medicine, worth over a hundred thousand silver taels.
If they were to rank the spoils, just the horn and heart of the Silver Moon Beast would be enough to place their small team in the top three.
After dealing with the Silver Moon Beast’s corpse, the three of them quickly left the area to avoid attracting other large Monster Beasts with the scent of blood.
By the time they returned to the campsite, dawn was breaking.
However, having battled the Silver Moon Beast all night, they were exhausted and each leaned against a tree trunk, closing their eyes to rest without speaking.
Gu Qianyin noticed a strange tension between Terra Su and Princess Mia, as if they were sulking, ignoring each other as if the other didn’t exist.
This left Gu Qianyin caught in the middle, feeling a bit at a loss. She should naturally follow Terra Su, especially since his anger was out of concern for her safety.
But leaving Princess Mia alone seemed a bit cruel.
As Gu Qianyin wrestled with her dilemma, time slowly passed.
By afternoon, the three had rested enough and stood up, ready to set out again.
Terra Su’s expression remained indifferent, saying nothing to Princess Mia. Gu Qianyin noticed this and, moved by a thought, suddenly said, “Terra, shall we check on the Silver Moon Beast cubs? They might be hungry.”
Gu Qianyin’s suggestion to check on the Silver Moon Beast cubs was clearly an attempt to ease the tension between Terra Su and Princess Mia. After all, the cubs were so adorable, maybe Terra would forgive the princess after seeing them.
The four Silver Moon Beast cubs were now in a bamboo basket, each with big, curious eyes, jostling and chirping at the three of them.
Indeed, the Silver Moon Beast was known for its beauty, and even the cubs were stunning, with silky white fur and a single horn on their foreheads, giving them a noble appearance.
Terra Su glanced at them, showing approval, and nodded, “Their fur is pure white, without a trace of impurity, and the horn’s position is ideal. These four Silver Moon Beast cubs have a high bloodline purity.”
“Really?” Gu Qianyin’s eyes lit up, her gaze on the cubs growing even softer.
The purity of a Monster Beast’s bloodline is crucial, akin to a human’s cultivation talent, directly determining its growth potential.
Low bloodline purity means low potential and future strength, no matter how many resources are invested. High bloodline purity means high potential, and with enough resources, its future strength could be formidable.
Moreover, humans might overcome natural limitations through supreme martial arts and rare treasures, but for Monster Beasts, bloodline purity is everything, and it’s hard to change after birth.
These four cubs’ high bloodline purity means they have great growth potential, making them excellent future companions if raised as beast pets.
“Terra, do you think they’re hungry?” Gu Qianyin asked.
“After so long without food, they must be.” Terra said, tossing some leftover Monster Beast meat from last night into the basket.
The cubs immediately pounced on the meat, fighting fiercely over it.
Gu Qianyin was surprised to see the usually harmonious cubs become so aggressive over food, as if in a life-or-death struggle.
Terra Su nodded at the sight, “Indeed, Monster Beasts are more ruthless than human Martial Practitioners, adhering strictly to survival of the fittest.”
Gu Qianyin, not understanding, asked, “Why do you say that?”
“Look at these four cubs. Though born from the same mother, only one will likely survive. That’s the most optimistic scenario; they might all die, leaving none.”
“Why is that?”
“It’s simple, it’s the law of the Monster Beast world,” Terra Su explained. “Their survival conditions limit their resources, which can’t be evenly distributed. If they were, they’d all be weak and easily wiped out by other Monster Beasts.”
“So, the law of natural selection dictates that in a litter, the cubs fight to the death for resources, leaving only one survivor to inherit all from the mother. And that’s if I’m being generous, as a mother beast doesn’t only have one litter, so the winner might have to compete with winners from other litters, with only one surviving from several litters.”
