Chapter 281 – Searching for cubs

Terra Su wasted no time and immediately began cultivating the three techniques: Heavenly Eye, Wind Listening Ear, and Rock Steady Heart.

These techniques were ones he had mastered in his previous life, and now they were proving useful here. If he could reach the beginner level in these techniques, it would greatly enhance his archery skills.

Engrossed in his cultivation, Terra Su lost track of time, which slowly crept into the late night.

When he finally snapped out of his trance, he realized it was already past midnight.

The campfire had died out, and Princess Mia and Gu Qianyin had each found a tree to lean against and were sound asleep, wrapped in blankets.

Not wanting to disturb them, Terra Su found a large rock to lean on, took off his robe, and wore it backward over his chest, closing his eyes to rest.

However, the newly enhanced “Heavenly Eye” and “Wind Listening Ear” refused to let him sleep peacefully.

Through these techniques, Terra Su could sense the presence of Monster Beasts nearby. It wasn’t just one, but many.

The closest one was only five hundred meters away from him.

They seemed uninterested in humans, passing by without any pause.

Terra Su considered waking the two women, as the presence of so many Monster Beasts nearby was concerning. Yet, the beasts passed by their hiding spot as if they were invisible.

“Why are these Monster Beasts so active in the middle of the night?”

Terra Su didn’t know, but he couldn’t afford to be careless.

Such behavior from Monster Beasts was unusual, but what was causing it?

Unable to find an answer, Terra Su closed his eyes and rested, though the beasts’ movements kept him awake.

Not long after, Princess Mia, who should have been asleep, suddenly opened her eyes.

She stood up, walked over to Gu Qianyin, and gently woke her.

They exchanged a few whispered words and then quietly left the camping area.

“What are they up to?”

Pretending to be asleep, Terra Su opened his eyes. He had been resting, not sleeping.

He got up and followed them from a distance, curious about their intentions.

Princess Mia and Gu Qianyin left the campsite, heading in a specific direction.

Gu Qianyin asked, “Princess, are you sure they’re around here?”

Princess Mia nodded, “According to the intelligence from the royal palace, their lair is nearby. We need to hurry, or we might miss them.”

“Alright, let’s go quickly.”

The two quickened their pace.

“What are these two up to?” Terra Su wondered, silently following them.

Soon, Terra Su found his answer as the two women arrived at the entrance of a cave.

From within the cave emanated a powerful Monster Beast aura, clearly a lair.

“Is this the place?” Gu Qianyin asked.

“This is it,” Princess Mia confirmed confidently.

“Great! I hope the Silver Moon Beast has given birth, so we can take a couple of cubs back,” Gu Qianyin said excitedly.

Terra Su heard this and understood their intentions.

“No wonder they’re out here in the middle of the night, looking for Monster Beast cubs. They must have been searching for the lair during the day.”

In the Martial Dao world, some practitioners specialized in taming Monster Beast cubs. Once grown, these beasts became loyal companions, significantly boosting their master’s combat power.

These practitioners were known as Beast Tamers.

However, the beasts had to be raised from a young age to ensure obedience when they matured.

Terra Su wasn’t surprised that Princess Mia and Gu Qianyin were out looking for cubs. The allure of cute, fluffy Monster Beast cubs was irresistible to any girl.

Especially the Silver Moon Beast, known for its beauty, though rare and elusive, making it no surprise they were drawn to it.

“Let’s go into the cave,” Princess Mia said, taking out a bamboo tube and sprinkling some powder from it.

The powder drifted into the cave with the wind.

“This Bewildering Powder works well on low-level Condensing Origin Realm and Transforming Realm Monster Beasts. Once inhaled, they’ll fall asleep and won’t notice us,” Princess Mia explained.

With that, the two entered the cave.

The cave was narrow, and they soon reached its end.

There, a large Monster Beast with snow-white fur, resembling a wolf but with a single horn on its forehead, lay lazily in the middle, seemingly asleep.

Around it, several snow-white cubs were chirping, their bright eyes and wet noses making them incredibly endearing.

“Silver Moon Beast cubs,” Gu Qianyin exclaimed with joy.

“We’re lucky; these are newborn Silver Moon Beasts,” Princess Mia said with bright eyes, smiling. “Let’s take the cubs quickly. If the mother wakes up, we won’t be able to leave.”

The adult Silver Moon Beast was a third-level Transforming Realm Monster Beast, far beyond the two women’s capabilities.

Gu Qianyin and Princess Mia each picked up two cubs, tucked them into their arms, and hurried back the way they came.

Eager to return, they ignored the rare herbs and materials growing in the cave.

Soon, they reached the cave entrance, breathing a sigh of relief at their successful heist.

“Let’s go back,” Gu Qianyin said.

But just then, a long howl echoed from the cave, filled with a heart-wrenching sorrow.

The sound sent a shiver down their spines.

Gu Qianyin panicked, “Oh no, the Silver Moon Beast mother is awake!”

“Why did the Bewildering Powder wear off so quickly?”
