Upon entering the Thunder Beast’s cave, Terra Su and Gu Qianyin found several Monster Beast corpses casually piled at the entrance. These were the prey the Thunder Beast had hunted, and due to the scorching heat, some had already begun to decay.
Terra Su glanced at the corpses and then stepped over them, striding inside. Gu Qianyin covered her nose with her sleeve and followed.
The cave was spacious but simple. At its center was a small pool, a few feet square. In the middle of the pool were two eggs, each the size of a human head. One was purple, the other red, both enveloped in a faint glow with intricate, mysterious patterns on their shells. Unlike typical oval eggs, these were perfectly spherical, resembling exquisite artworks.
“These are Thunder Beast eggs,” Terra Su immediately recognized. The Thunder Beast was a mother in its laying period. If these eggs hatched, they would become Thunder Beast cubs. However, it was evident that they were far from hatching.
“Let’s take a closer look,” Terra Su said, and the two cautiously approached the eggs. As they got nearer, they could feel the pure Spiritual Qi energy emanating from the eggs. Just a single breath seemed to enhance their cultivation level slightly.
Terra Su bent down to examine the small pool holding the eggs. “I see, the water in this pool isn’t ordinary; it’s high-quality spirit spring water.”
“No wonder the eggs are so rich in Spiritual Qi; they’ve been absorbing the essence of the spirit spring daily,” Terra Su murmured.
“Spirit spring?” Gu Qianyin’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Yes, the Thunder Beast has been diligently using the spirit spring to nurture its eggs. This way, the cubs will have superior bloodlines and cultivation levels once they hatch,” Terra Su explained.
“Since there’s a spirit spring, can we take it with us?” Gu Qianyin suggested, knowing that the liquid Spiritual Qi in the spring would greatly benefit their cultivation.
Terra Su shook his head. “There’s very little spirit spring water left, and most of its Spiritual Qi has already been absorbed by the eggs. What’s left isn’t worth taking.”
“Is that so?” Gu Qianyin looked disappointed.
Terra Su smiled faintly. “However, these two Thunder Beast eggs have absorbed enough spirit spring essence. They contain immense pure Spiritual Qi and the bloodline essence of the Thunder Beast, comparable to the finest rare treasures. Martial Practitioners who focus on thunder or fire attributes would gain immense benefits from them.”
“You mean, these eggs are edible?” Gu Qianyin blinked, finding it cruel that Terra Su would consider eating the adorable Thunder Beast cubs.
“Yes, they can be eaten, but not now,” Terra Su replied. “The mother beast has an instinct for its young. If we take these eggs, the Thunder Beast will quickly notice. It’s a half-step Transforming Realm Monster Beast; if it goes berserk, we won’t have anywhere to run.”
“Then isn’t this trip a waste?” Gu Qianyin asked.
“Not at all,” Terra Su’s lips curled into a cunning smile. “We can use these eggs to get out of our current predicament.”
“You mean the Sun Family people outside?” Gu Qianyin asked. “How can we use these eggs to escape them?”
“Divert the disaster eastward,” Terra Su said, knowing Gu Qianyin would understand his meaning.
Sure enough, Gu Qianyin quickly caught on. “I get it. You want to steal these eggs and give them to the Sun Family outside, right?”
“If they don’t know these are Thunder Beast eggs, they’ll treat them as priceless treasures and take them back.”
“And once the Thunder Beast realizes its eggs are missing and tracks them down, they’re doomed,” Gu Qianyin said, thinking it was a devious plan but perfect for dealing with the Sun Family.
“Exactly,” Terra Su smiled. There was another point he didn’t mention: he was determined to get these eggs for himself, but that would depend on the right opportunity.
“Then let’s act quickly,” Gu Qianyin said, feeling a newfound adventurous spirit since meeting Terra Su. She wouldn’t have considered such a dangerous plan before, but now she was eager to try.
“Wait, let’s see if there’s anything else in this spirit spring besides the eggs,” Terra Su said, reaching into the small pool. He pulled out a hard object, a semi-transparent crystal with a glowing sheen.
“It’s a Spirit Stone!” Terra Su recognized it immediately.
He continued searching the pool and eventually found ten Spirit Stones. Two had red light flowing inside, indicating they were Fire Spirit Stones. The other eight were completely transparent, indicating they were attribute-less Spirit Stones.
“These Spirit Stones must also be part of the Thunder Beast’s treasure,” Terra Su thought, recalling how a single Fire Spirit Stone had cost him fifteen thousand taels at the floating auction. He couldn’t believe the Thunder Beast had ten of them hidden here.
Without hesitation, Terra Su instructed Gu Qianyin to pocket the ten Spirit Stones. Then, each carrying an egg, they quickly left the Thunder Beast’s lair.
As they retraced their steps, they passed by the Thunder Beast again. Gu Qianyin’s heart nearly jumped out of her chest, but fortunately, the incense Terra Su had used seemed effective. The Thunder Beast remained asleep.
Once they were safely away from the Thunder Beast, they hurried towards the valley’s exit at full speed.
Outside the valley, Sun Rui and several Sun Family Elders were still waiting.
“Hall Master, it’s been six hours. Those two are probably already eaten by the Thunder Beast. There’s no point in waiting any longer,” one Elder said.
“Yes, entering the Thunder Beast’s valley is a sure death,” another Elder agreed.
“We’ll wait until tomorrow morning. If they don’t come out by then, we’ll leave,” Sun Rui said, his eyes fixed on the valley entrance.
Just as he finished speaking, two figures emerged from the valley, one after the other.
The Sun Family members’ eyes lit up. The young man and the masked woman were their targets!
