“Let’s go check out the nest of that half-step Transforming Realm Monster Beast,” Terra Su suddenly suggested.
“Are you crazy?” Gu Qianyin was startled. “Going into the nest of a half-step Transforming Realm Monster Beast is as good as seeking death!”
“As long as we conceal our presence well, the Monster Beast might not notice us,” Terra Su replied. “More importantly, powerful Monster Beasts’ nests always contain various treasures. Don’t you want them?”
Gu Qianyin fell silent. Of course, she wanted the treasures. Anything from the nest of a half-step Transforming Realm Monster Beast was bound to be valuable.
But the risk was enormous. Even if Terra Su said the Monster Beast might not notice them, if it did, their fate would be sealed.
“If you don’t go, I’ll go by myself,” Terra Su declared.
“Wait for me.” Gu Qianyin gritted her teeth and quickly caught up with Terra Su. In this perilous valley, she instinctively felt that staying close to Terra Su was the safest option.
As they moved forward, the vegetation became increasingly sparse, and there were signs of scorching everywhere. It was clear that the roar of the Monster Beast had come from this direction.
After walking a bit further, they finally saw the faint outline of a massive creature.
It was a bare mound, with a huge cave behind it. Atop the mound lay a gigantic Monster Beast.
Even lying down, the Monster Beast was over three meters tall, its body covered in purple scales that reflected a blinding light in the sun.
From the front, the Monster Beast looked ferocious, with two sharp tusks protruding from its mouth, making it appear terrifying. At this moment, the Monster Beast had its eyes tightly shut, lying motionless, seemingly enjoying a sunbath.
“What kind of Monster Beast is this?” Gu Qianyin murmured, having never seen such a creature before.
“This is a Thunder Beast, a dual-attribute Monster Beast with thunder and fire attributes. In its youth, its cultivation level can reach the sixth to eighth level of the Condensing Origin Realm. As an adult, it reaches the half-step Transforming Realm. The one before us is an adult,” Terra Su explained.
Hearing that it was indeed a half-step Transforming Realm Monster Beast, Gu Qianyin felt a wave of fear.
However, seeing Terra Su’s calm demeanor, she took a deep breath and steadied herself. She looked at the Thunder Beast lying on the mound and whispered, “Luckily, it’s asleep. Otherwise, being this close, it would surely notice us.”
“It’s not asleep,” Terra Su shook his head. “It’s just cultivating.”
“Cultivating?” Gu Qianyin was startled again. The thought that this massive creature was not asleep but cultivating made her shiver. She instinctively moved closer to Terra Su, almost touching him.
“Yes, it’s absorbing the pure Yang attribute energy from the sun for its cultivation. This is its innate ability, unique to it,” Terra Su explained.
Innate abilities were unique to Monster Beasts, inherited through their bloodline. Unlike human martial techniques and skills, Monster Beasts’ innate abilities were mastered from birth.
“Although it’s not asleep, it’s in a state of cultivation and shouldn’t notice us for a while,” Terra Su added.
In reality, if the Thunder Beast used its divine sense even slightly, it would discover the two intruders nearby. However, it never expected that any humans would dare to intrude on its territory, let alone right under its nose, so it had let its guard down.
“Let’s wait. If it falls asleep, we can sneak into its cave,” Terra Su said, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
The two of them hid quietly behind a rock, waiting for the Thunder Beast to fall asleep.
During this time, Terra Su wasn’t idle. He took out some dried herbs and ground them into powder in a small jar, though it wasn’t clear what he intended to do.
Gu Qianyin, on the other hand, couldn’t calm down. Being within a kilometer of a half-step Transforming Realm Monster Beast was an experience she had never had before. Only someone like Terra Su could remain calm in such a situation.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity to Gu Qianyin, three hours passed.
“Snore… Snore…”
The Thunder Beast finally fell asleep on the mound, snoring loudly. Each breath it took expelled scorching air from its nostrils, making it clear that anyone daring to approach would be incinerated.
“It’s time,” Terra Su said, standing up and picking up the jar of herb powder.
“Terra Su, are you sure about this?” Gu Qianyin asked.
“Of course. Fortune favors the bold. Without taking risks, how can we seize greater opportunities?” Terra Su shrugged. In the Martial Dao world, if you don’t advance, you fall behind. If you don’t take risks, you’ll be left behind. Besides, the Sun Family’s people were likely guarding the valley entrance. Doing nothing would only lead to more trouble.
Holding their breath, they carefully circled around the mound where the Thunder Beast lay, heading toward the cave behind it.
At one point, they were only a hundred or two hundred meters away from the Thunder Beast. Gu Qianyin could almost feel the heat from its breath singeing her hair, giving her goosebumps.
As they were about to pass by the Thunder Beast, Terra Su suddenly stopped. He placed the jar of herb powder on the ground, set up a small stand with some branches, and placed the jar on it. He then put some twigs under the jar.
Gu Qianyin held her breath, watching Terra Su’s actions with a puzzled look in her eyes. What was he doing?
With a flick of his finger, Terra Su ignited the twigs under the jar.
The herb powder inside the jar began to heat up, releasing wisps of blue smoke that drifted toward the Thunder Beast’s nostrils.
The Thunder Beast snorted twice, its face showing a look of enjoyment, as if it were sleeping even more soundly.
“What is that?” Gu Qianyin couldn’t help but ask.
“Just a type of incense that only affects Monster Beasts,” Terra Su shrugged. “It helps them sleep more soundly.”
“Terra Su, it seems like you know everything,” Gu Qianyin couldn’t help but say.
“Stop talking and let’s go. The incense isn’t all-powerful. Its effect on a half-step Transforming Realm Monster Beast will only last for a short while,” Terra Su said, heading directly toward the Thunder Beast’s cave.
