Chapter 119 – Why didn’t you get poisoned?

“Thousand-Handed Poison Lord” Isaac Ding!

Sophia Xu’s face changed slightly. She had heard of this man’s name before; he was a rather famous alchemist. Although he looked young, he was not truly young, merely adept at preserving his appearance. At fifty years old, he looked like he was in his thirties.

It was said that although Isaac Ding was an alchemist, his focus wasn’t on the righteous path of alchemy but on concocting various poisons. He loved researching ways to kill people.

Even though his cultivation level was only at the fifth level of the Condensing Origin Realm, even those at the eighth level of the Condensing Origin Realm had died from his endless array of poisons. The title “Thousand-Handed Poison Lord” was not given lightly.

“Aunt, don’t panic.”

Terra Su took out a small bottle from his pocket, uncorked it, and poured out some elixirs. He took one himself and handed another to Sophia Xu, saying, “This is a universal antidote. Once you take it, no matter what kind of poison it is, it will be neutralized.”

As he spoke, Terra Su glanced at the poisoned high-ranking members of the North Jiang Manor and flicked his fingers, sending antidote pills flying towards them.

The high-ranking members of the North Jiang Manor instinctively caught the antidote pills. Seeing Sophia Xu take one, they quickly followed suit and swallowed the antidote pills.

Isaac Ding’s face showed disdain. He thought Terra Su was utterly ridiculous. As a poison expert, he knew better than anyone that detoxification wasn’t as simple as Terra Su made it sound. An antidote could only counteract a specific poison, just like a key could only open a specific lock. There was no such thing as a universal antidote.

Unless Terra Su had coincidentally brought the exact antidote for his poisons, which was impossible because the poison in the tea and the purple smoke he had released were two different toxins. Even if Terra Su had antidotes, it was nearly impossible for him to have antidotes for both poisons simultaneously. The odds were almost zero.

Isaac Ding was very confident in his poisons. Unless he personally made the antidote, there was no way to neutralize them.

Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang were also calm and composed. They had absolute faith in Isaac Ding’s poisoning skills, so they weren’t in a hurry. They just had to wait a bit, and Sophia Xu would undoubtedly succumb to the poison.

At that time, they would use the antidote as leverage to force Terra Su to reveal the clues to the Patriarch’s Seal. They didn’t believe Terra Su wouldn’t comply.

Indeed, as Terra Su had said, there was never any envoy from the main family coming to Clear River City.

Today’s so-called visit from the main family envoy was a carefully crafted scheme by Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang. Their goals were twofold: first, to poison Sophia Xu and use her condition to threaten Terra Su into revealing the clues to the Patriarch’s Seal; second, to eliminate dissenters within the North Jiang Manor.

Even though Sophia Xu had left the family, many people in the North Jiang Manor still disagreed with Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang. This was a perfect opportunity for them to kill two birds with one stone: obtain the clues to the Patriarch’s Seal and eliminate those who opposed them, thus gaining complete control over the North Jiang Manor.

Moreover, they planned to go back on their word and not give the antidote after Terra Su revealed the clues, killing Sophia Xu. This way, both the South Jiang Manor and the North Jiang Manor would be theirs.

As for Terra Su, since he was protected by Master Dust, they didn’t dare to act against him directly, so they targeted Sophia Xu instead.

Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang’s plan was meticulous. However, inviting Isaac Ding, the “Thousand-Handed Poison Lord,” had cost them a significant price. After the deed was done, they not only promised to give Isaac Ding thirty percent of the combined assets of the North and South Jiang Manors but also all the secrets Terra Su held.

Initially, Isaac Ding wasn’t interested in Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang’s deal. It was only after they told him about Terra Su’s feats that his interest was piqued. To Isaac Ding, a fifteen-year-old at the third level of the Condensing Origin Realm was already an incredible feat. What was even more astonishing was that Terra Su seemed to understand alchemy. A mere teenager couldn’t possibly achieve this on his own.

There was only one explanation: Terra Su must have obtained some heaven-defying treasure, which allowed him to transform into a dual-talented genius in both martial arts and alchemy in such a short time.

Isaac Ding coveted this treasure far more than the thirty percent of the Jiang family’s assets.

In his view, if a mere teenager could become a genius with that treasure, then he, with his skills, would undoubtedly reach new heights in both the Martial Dao and Elixir Path if he obtained it.

“Otto Jiang, Robert Jiang, I can’t believe you two are so vicious. Poisoning me is one thing, but even those elders who chose to stay loyal to the North Jiang Manor, you want to poison them too?”

Sophia Xu looked at Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang in disbelief. These two brothers kept shattering her understanding of human decency, showing no humanity at all.

“You’re about to die, so save your breath and worry about yourself!”

Robert Jiang snorted coldly.

“Otto Jiang, Robert Jiang, you are utterly insane, poisoning even us. We’ve always been loyal to the Jiang family. Even after the split, we chose to stay in the North Jiang Manor and never did anything against it. Just because we had some disagreements with you, you resort to such cruel measures. You beasts! Worse than animals!”

An elder from the North Jiang Manor cursed furiously. Although they were from a branch family, they were still uncles and elders to Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang. The brothers were so heartless, they had misjudged them completely. If they had known, they would have left with Sophia Xu during the split.

“Old man, I’ve long disliked you all. So what if I poisoned you? You should be grateful I’m leaving you with a whole corpse!”

Since Robert Jiang had already torn off the facade, his words were equally harsh.

Once the Bone-Breaking Powder’s poison fully activated, these people would die with their meridians severed. At that point, the entire North Jiang Manor, and even the South Jiang Manor, would be theirs.

“Is it the bad feng shui of our Jiang family’s ancestral tomb that produced such beasts? With these two monsters in control, the Jiang family is doomed. Within ten years, the Jiang family will surely decline!”

The poisoned high-ranking members of the North Jiang Manor either cursed or lamented.

Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang turned a deaf ear, waiting for the poison to take effect.

Time passed, second by second.

“What’s going on? Hasn’t the poison taken effect yet?”

Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang finally grew restless. Even Isaac Ding felt a bit puzzled. By now, a stick of incense’s time had passed since these people drank the tea and Sophia Xu inhaled the purple smoke. The poison should have taken effect long ago. Why were there no signs of poisoning?

Could it be that the antidote they took really worked?
