“Greetings, Madam. I am Gu Qianyin. If there’s anything I can assist with in the manor, I will do my best.”
Gu Qianyin’s demeanor was polite and courteous, showing great respect.
“Miss Gu, you’re too kind.”
Sophia Xu quickly responded. She wasn’t blind; she could tell at a glance that Gu Qianyin’s bearing was extraordinary, far from an ordinary person. She wouldn’t really treat her like a maid.
However, speaking of which, Little Terra has really grown up. She used to think of him as the boy who never seemed to mature in her memories. Now, he could even bring a girl home for the night. Although the girl’s face was veiled, her bearing alone suggested she must be quite beautiful.
While Sophia Xu was feeling gratified, Terra Su had no idea his aunt had completely misunderstood the situation.
He led Gu Qianyin and Gu Qianxue to his courtyard and arranged rooms for them.
Fortunately, the courtyard Sophia Xu had prepared for him was quite large. Even with two more people, it didn’t feel crowded at all.
“There’s nothing you need to do right now. Just settle in and focus on your cultivation.”
Terra Su said.
“Thank you, Young Master Su.”
Gu Qianyin stood gracefully, thanking Terra Su with a polite yet distant attitude.
This arrangement was perfect for Gu Qianyin. She usually spent her days cultivating at Star Luan Gate, and now she was just changing the location of her cultivation.
However, Gu Qianxue was not pleased at all. She pouted and said, “Brother Terra, Xue’er wants to go out and play with you.”
“Qianxue, don’t be rude.”
Gu Qianyin reprimanded her, then apologized to Terra Su, “Young Master Su, Qianxue has been spoiled by me since she was little. She’s a bit willful. I hope you can forgive her.”
Terra Su smiled and said to Gu Qianxue, “In a few days, I’ll take you to a fun place.”
“Yay!”
Gu Qianxue jumped three feet high, her face lighting up with joy.
“I’m leaving now.”
Terra Su nodded to Gu Qianyin and was about to leave the room when he suddenly heard a low groan from behind. The sound seemed to carry a hint of pain.
He turned around to see Gu Qianyin clutching her chest and sitting down on the bed. Although her expression was hidden behind the veil, he could sense her discomfort.
Terra Su paused and asked, “Is there anything I can help with?”
“It’s nothing serious, just a minor recurring ailment. It’ll pass soon. No need to trouble yourself, Young Master Su.”
Gu Qianyin replied, trying to endure the pain.
Terra Su didn’t press further. He gave her a thoughtful look before leaving the room.
Shortly after Terra Su returned to his own room.
“Young Master!”
A servant hurried in to report, “The Patriarch requests your presence in the council hall immediately.”
“Hmm?”
Terra Su raised an eyebrow. He had just met with his aunt, and now she was calling him again. Could something urgent have happened?
When he arrived at the council hall, he saw Sophia Xu holding a black invitation.
“Little Terra, you’re here. Just now, someone from North Jiang Manor came and delivered this invitation.”
Sophia Xu said, handing the black invitation to him.
Terra Su opened it and read that the envoy from the Jiang Family’s main branch would arrive in Clear River City tomorrow. They requested the people from South Jiang Manor to visit North Jiang Manor to welcome the envoy.
“The main branch?”
Terra Su closed the invitation, surprised. He had never heard of this so-called Jiang Family main branch in his previous life.
“Aunt, does this main branch really exist?”
Terra Su asked, doubtful.
Sophia Xu nodded affirmatively, “Yes, there is indeed a Jiang Family main branch in the capital. Our Jiang Family in Clear River City is just a branch of theirs.”
“However, we haven’t had contact with the main branch for hundreds of years. They look down on our small, remote city and our weak branch. They’ve always left us to fend for ourselves. Why would they suddenly come now?”
Sophia Xu was also puzzled.
A dark glint flashed in Terra Su’s eyes. This so-called Jiang Family main branch had never appeared in his previous life. Although he had some understanding of the capital’s powers, he had never heard of a Jiang Family there.
It seemed that with his rebirth, the course of history had indeed changed. Things that had never surfaced before were now beginning to emerge.
“Aunt, could there be some conspiracy behind this, especially given the timing? Our South Jiang Manor and North Jiang Manor just split, and now the main branch’s people are coming.”
Sophia Xu’s natural female intuition made her feel uneasy about the sudden visit from the main branch.
Terra Su said calmly, “Aunt, there’s no need to worry. Worrying won’t help. What will come, will come.”
“Then, what should we do tomorrow?”
“Take it as it comes. I want to see what tricks this so-called main branch from the capital can pull!”
A cold light flashed in Terra Su’s eyes. Things were getting interesting. Since the Jiang Family main branch had appeared, he would see what they were capable of.
This sudden news had ignited Terra Su’s fighting spirit. He was the type to grow stronger when faced with challenges. Instead of feeling any fear about what might happen tomorrow, he was filled with determination.
…
The next day, Terra Su and Sophia Xu headed to North Jiang Manor.
Only the two of them went from South Jiang Manor. According to Terra Su, more people wouldn’t necessarily be better; sometimes, too many people could have the opposite effect.
This was the first meeting between South Jiang Manor and North Jiang Manor since their split. When Terra Su and Sophia Xu arrived at North Jiang Manor, Robert Jiang was already waiting at the gate.
Seeing them arrive, Robert Jiang’s gaze lingered on Sophia Xu, and his pupils shrank. There had been rumors that Sophia Xu had advanced to the seventh level of the Condensing Origin Realm, which he hadn’t believed. But now, seeing her in person, her True Essence aura was vast like the sea, confirming her advancement.
How did this woman get so lucky to actually advance!
Robert Jiang felt a pang of frustration and said sourly, “Second Sister-in-law seems to be living quite comfortably these days.”
This was what frustrated Robert Jiang the most. Logically, a woman going off on her own should have had a hard time. He had been ready to laugh at Sophia Xu’s struggles, but instead, she was thriving.
In contrast, North Jiang Manor had been having a tough time. Although Sophia Xu hadn’t taken any of North Jiang Manor’s assets, she had taken nearly a third of their people. These people had been the backbone of North Jiang Manor. Their sudden departure left many positions vacant, and Otto Jiang and Robert Jiang had to rack their brains to fill these gaps. Despite their efforts, many businesses were still not doing as well as before.
Many of the family’s businesses relied on connections. When people left, their connections often went with them. Even if new people were brought in, the old clients might not be as willing to do business with them.
