Chapter 45 – Prepare to cultivate a traitor

Both stood facing each other, neither making the first move, each calculating in silence.

Alex Li knew Evan Chen had a formidable shield. Last time, his palm strike nearly shattered his own hand.

Moreover, after using the shield, this brat could teleport a hundred meters instantly!

“I’ll feign an attack first. In his panic, he’ll definitely use that defensive move. I just need to lock onto a spot a hundred meters away, sidestep, and deliver a flying kick to knock him down!”

Alex meticulously planned his attack in his mind.

Evan Chen was also contemplating how to take down Alex without getting hit.

“Alex knows I have the Supreme Shield of Heaven. He’ll surely guard the spot where I teleport. I can’t use it right away. I’ll have to rely on my defensive Immortal Artifact first; it should be enough to withstand one of his attacks. Then, I’ll surprise him with a sword strike! Yes, that’s the plan.”

After both had devised their strategies, Alex made the first move.

“Overlord Fist!”

With a loud roar, Alex’s fist aimed straight for Evan’s forehead.

In Alex’s eyes, fighting Evan was as simple as a martial artist beating up a farmer.

After all, he came from a minor noble family and had practiced a few moves since childhood.

Evan had already activated his Immortal Power. Seeing Alex’s fist coming, he immediately summoned a crimson defensive shield from his dark green ring.

“Brat, you’ve fallen for it!”

Seeing the defensive shield enveloping Evan, Alex was overjoyed. He threw a flying blade with his left hand, aiming at Evan’s shield.

Then, he focused entirely on locking onto the spot where Evan would escape.

But Evan didn’t move. The flying blade struck the shield, causing only a slight tremor, leaving him unscathed.

“Condense the sword!”

Evan’s Immortal Power surged, conjuring a transparent Immortal Sword out of thin air.

“By the might of heaven, let the sword guide…”

The sword Evan conjured was imbued with icy energy. As he thrust it forward, a layer of frost formed around him.

“Damn, he didn’t teleport! And he knows sword techniques too. This bastard, he’s really something!”

Alex felt the chilling aura and was instantly alarmed.

In his desperation, he used his trump card, another defensive Immortal Artifact.

Clang!

The icy sword struck Alex’s defensive shield, producing a resonant sword sound.

Evan’s hand went numb, but he didn’t retreat.

“Second move, Sky Breaker!”

“Third move, Dancing Flowers Sword!”

“Fourth move… Fifth move… Sixth move…”

Evan unleashed eighteen sword moves in one breath, each more powerful than the last.

Alex’s defense broke, and Evan seized the opportunity to rush forward, kicking Alex in the chest.

“Damn it, how does he know such a powerful sword technique! I miscalculated!”

Alex was shocked and prepared to fight with all his might. If he couldn’t defeat this brat, he’d be in big trouble…

He gathered all his Immortal Power and unleashed his strongest punch.

Sensing the incoming force, Evan instinctively activated the Supreme Shield of Heaven.

A deep yellow shield enveloped Evan, protecting him.

Clang!

Alex’s punch landed on the shield, shattering his fist, blood splattering everywhere.

In the next moment, Evan appeared a hundred meters away.

“Take this!”

Evan raised his sword to the sky and slashed forward.

A sword shadow, crackling with lightning, shot out.

Feeling the terrifying lightning aura, Alex was terrified. He had no choice but to activate his defensive Immortal Artifact again.

Boom!

The sword shadow shattered the shield and struck Alex.

Alex’s body flew backward, stopping only when he crashed into the fence.

“Huh? He has armor too? This bastard has quite a few defensive tricks up his sleeve.”

Evan had thought this strike would at least pierce Alex, but it turned out he was wearing defensive Immortal Armor.

Seeing Alex already collapsed on the ground, Evan sheathed his sword.

Killing Alex was out of the question.

It went against the rules of Sky Moon Cave. Killing him would get Evan expelled.

Besides, this brat didn’t know his place. Keeping him around to torment would be more satisfying.

Evan walked over, took off his shoe, and placed his toe on Alex’s forehead. “Didn’t I say I could crush you with just a toe? How’s that?”

Alex had planned to play dead, but he knew he couldn’t fool the cunning Evan. With a bitter face, he said, “Brother Chen, your skills are unparalleled. I admit defeat.”

Evan slapped him with his foot. “Admitting defeat isn’t enough?”

Alex’s heart sank. He pleaded, “Brother Chen, we agreed this was just a sparring match. Sparring means stopping before it goes too far. Please let me go. I promise I’ll never anger you again.”

Evan slapped him a few more times with his foot. “You know what kind of person I am. Kneel and reflect properly. If I’m in a good mood, I’ll spare your dog life. If not, I’ll skin you and hang you out to dry.”

Alex: “…”

He regretted underestimating Evan and falling into his trap.

Outside the fence.

Several disciples in white robes were cursing furiously.

But this time, they weren’t cursing Evan, but Alex, the weakling.

“Useless, absolutely useless!”

“Alex, you Dog Thing, you can’t even beat a mangy dog. You’d better die now, or you’ll have no place in the outer sect.”

After cursing Alex for a while, they turned their anger towards Evan, shouting insults.

Evan grabbed Alex by the collar and ordered, “From now on, you’ll squat by the fence. Anyone who curses me, you curse their ancestors for eighteen generations. If you can’t do that, I’ll kill you. Got it?”

Alex felt like dying.

He had already angered the outer sect disciples by losing to Evan. If he cursed them, how could he ever survive in Sky Moon Cave?

But if he didn’t follow Evan’s orders, he might lose his life.

Weighing his options, Alex decided to prioritize survival.

He hobbled to the fence and started trading insults with the disciples outside.

To be fair, Alex had a knack for cursing. He insulted the disciples from birth to three hundred years old, each curse unique.

One of the disciples was so enraged he nearly fainted.

Evan lay leisurely under the phoenix tree, listening to the exchange of insults, finding it quite amusing.

However, this wasn’t a long-term solution.

He planned to cultivate an informant to gather intel on the enemy.

And the perfect candidate for this informant was Alex.

How to make him obedient?

Of course, by tormenting him until he willingly signed a Master-Servant Contract.

With Alex as a servant, running errands and delivering messages would be much easier.

Thinking of this, Evan felt elated.

Of course, he knew that his victory over Alex today was all thanks to the Raging Waves Sword Art.

This was the advantage of having strength.
