Chapter 29 – Whose backstage is harder

“Evan, look, your face is all red, isn’t it?”

Seeing the girl’s face flush, Evan Chen smacked his lips in satisfaction.

When it comes to reasoning, I’ve never been afraid of anyone.

Isn’t she feeling ashamed now?

Little did he know, the girl was currently using all her mental strength to resist the mysterious impulse in her mind that urged her to rush out and fight.

On the brink of exhaustion, she finally managed to fend off that impulsive will.

“Shut up, you bastard! If you dare say another word, I’ll cut you into pieces!”

“I…”

Evan felt bewildered and was about to continue reasoning when a sword was suddenly pressed against his throat.

The blade was only a hair’s breadth away from his neck.

Evan could only look at her pitifully, not daring to utter another word.

“Damn it, why does it feel like I can’t bring myself to strike, as if I’m pointing the sword at myself…”

The girl was on the verge of tears. She quickly withdrew the sword, as she no longer had the strength to hold it.

“I’ve been hit by some sort of spell, am I becoming half his puppet?”

The girl was a master of the demonic path. Although she didn’t know this puppet technique, she could roughly sense her current state.

“I mustn’t let this fool find out, or he’ll surely torment me. I’ll have to find a way to break this spell later,” she thought to herself.

Seeing the girl calm down, Evan dared to speak softly, “Miss, our top priority is to stay alive. We shouldn’t waste our energy fighting each other. We’re both from the demonic path, we should stand together against our enemies.”

The girl looked numb, “I’ll say it one more time, shut your damn mouth! I know you’re afraid of dying. Let me make it clear, this black energy shield is a life-saving technique given to me by my Master. Even if it lasts for ten days or half a month, those outside won’t be able to break through. Now, are you reassured?”

Hearing this, Evan was overjoyed.

You should have said so earlier, almost scared me to death.

“But what about after ten days or half a month? What do we do then?” Evan couldn’t help but ask.

The girl glared at Evan. Due to her excessive mental exhaustion, she didn’t even have the energy to get angry.

Boom, boom, boom…

The Holy Land cultivators outside continued to relentlessly attack the beast carriage with their killing formation.

Judging by the tremors inside the carriage, it seemed like each attack was getting weaker.

About half an hour later, Evan heard thunderous roars outside, but inside the carriage, it was calm and steady, without a hint of vibration.

Evan couldn’t help but look at the girl.

The girl made a stop gesture and said, “This is my Master’s unique protective formation. It actively absorbs the opponent’s attacks. The more they attack, the more stable the formation becomes, until it reaches its limit and transforms into a killing formation to strike back. Does this explanation satisfy you?”

Knowing she didn’t want to hear him speak, Evan nodded happily.

As expected of a Profound Immortal-level demonic cultivator, truly impressive. Now he felt at ease.

Feeling safe, Evan naturally gave up the idea of using the cross-realm stone to escape.

Otherwise, if the secret of the cross-realm stone was discovered by this demonic girl, she would definitely take it and might even kill him.

He closed his eyes to rest.

Several hours later, Evan, in a daze, heard painful wails from outside.

The cries lasted for about a quarter of an hour before everything fell silent.

The girl, who was meditating to recover, had a faint smile on her lips. “Pathetic fools, thinking they could kill me? Unfortunately, my identity is exposed, and I can’t return to the Red Lotus Holy Land. The mission is still incomplete… I need to find a place to hide and heal, then act when the time is right.”

Thinking of this, the girl kicked the unconscious Alex Li on the ground.

Alex didn’t move.

“If you keep playing dead, I’ll cut off your head and feed it to the dogs.”

“No, no, no, spare me, please spare me.”

Alex turned over and knelt, kowtowing repeatedly, begging for mercy.

“He knows our identities. Aren’t you going to kill him to silence him?” Evan chimed in at an inappropriate moment, making Alex’s heart sink.

“Are you teaching me how to do things?” The girl glared coldly at Evan, who immediately shut his mouth.

“I heard you have connections in the Sky Moon Cave. If you can get me in, I’ll spare your life.” The girl kept Alex alive to use his connections to infiltrate the small immortal sect.

This way, she could slowly recover and gather information, waiting for orders from her sect.

“No problem, leave it to me.” Alex breathed a sigh of relief, then glanced at Evan as if to say, “You bastard, trying to get me killed, just you wait.”

Evan seemed to understand his look and said, “What kind of connections does he have? Mine are even stronger!”

Alex panicked and said, “Brother, don’t joke around. My father is the life-saving benefactor of the third elder of Sky Moon Cave!”

Evan crossed his arms, looking smug, “So what? I’m the Little Uncle of the master of Sky Moon Cave!”

Alex’s heart skipped a beat. No way, does this guy have such strong connections? If he loses his value to the demonic girl, his life is over…

“Fairy, as far as I know, Sky Moon Cave is very strict and hates people who use connections. The more people you have, the better your chances of getting in. Besides, this little brother here, who can explain your injuries as menstruation, doesn’t seem very smart…”

Slap!

The mention of this made the girl furious. She cursed inwardly, “Your mother is the one menstruating and covered in blood.”

Unable to strike Evan, she could still deal with Alex.

Alex received a slap, leaving him stunned. He dared not say more and waited quietly for his fate.

“Whoever can help me infiltrate Sky Moon Cave will keep their life. Remember, don’t try any tricks in front of me. I can kill you with a single thought.”

Neither Alex nor Evan doubted this.

A Profound Immortal-level expert, known for her vicious methods, could easily kill them with a thought.

They emerged from the beast carriage.

The ground was littered with corpses and bones, making Evan and Alex vomit uncontrollably.

It was too disgusting.

The girl remained calm, waving her hand to release a blue flame that incinerated the remains.

“What a waste…”

Evan and Alex had the same thought.

They had hoped to find some treasures, but now everything was burned to ashes. What a pity.

To avoid more pursuers, the girl grabbed Evan and Alex and flew towards a desolate mountain.

That night, in a dense forest.

A bonfire blazed, roasting an unknown spirit beast.

“May I ask how to address you, Senior Sister?”

Evan, considering himself a member of the demonic path, called her Senior Sister to build some rapport, hoping she wouldn’t suddenly kill him.

“Who is your Senior Sister? Don’t call me that. From now on, I’ll go by the name Olivia Zhong, and we’re from the same hometown!”

“Oh.”

“What’s your real name?”

The girl, now Olivia Zhong, glared at Evan, wanting to slap him, but her instincts prevented her from doing so.

“You, slap him for me,” Olivia ordered Alex.

Such a good opportunity!

Alex, now Evan’s rival and even a mortal enemy, couldn’t wait to slap him.
