Chapter 14 – Is everything in the world a treasure in my pocket?

Seeing the look of distress on Evan Chen’s face, James Li said, “Kid, if you really have nowhere to go, I can introduce you to a Cave Mansion for cultivation.”

Evan’s eyes lit up immediately. “That’s great, Big Brother Li. You’re not joking, right?”

Joining a Cave Mansion for cultivation was no easy feat!

James Li replied, “Don’t get too excited just yet. An introduction is one thing, but whether they accept you is another.”

Evan nodded. Finally, someone was willing to recommend him to a Cave Mansion. It was at least an opportunity.

James Li took out a pen and ink from his storage bag and wrote a letter of introduction, handing it to Evan.

“Spirit Flower Mountain’s Sky Moon Cave is over eight thousand miles from here. It’s the spirit cave of an old acquaintance of mine. You can go there yourself.”

Evan accepted the letter and asked, “Big Brother Li, aren’t you coming with me?”

James waved his hand dismissively. “I have other matters to attend to, so I won’t be going.”

Evan raised his cup, full of gratitude. “Thank you so much for your help, Big Brother Li. I will repay you generously in the future. I’ll drink this cup, you can drink as you please.”

“Repay my ass,” James Li rolled his eyes at Evan, then said, “If you really want to repay me, I have just one request.”

“Big Brother Li, just say it. If I can do it, I definitely will,” Evan said resolutely.

“Get your wages back, with interest!” James demanded.

“Wages? But weren’t they already settled?” Evan was puzzled.

“Bullshit, we signed a hundred-year contract. The Wang Family forced you out, so your wages must be calculated accordingly. That’s not too much to ask, right?” James said, slapping the table.

“You must get them back!”

Evan understood James’s intention. Today’s humiliation would be repaid in the future. The wages weren’t important, but the interest calculation had its own significance!

Seeing Evan’s determined look, James laughed. “A real man should have some backbone. I despise those who act like cowards.”

Evan downed a bowl of wine. “Let’s not talk about this unpleasant matter. Big Brother Li, let’s chat about the Lower Realm instead.”

James gave Evan a sidelong glance. “Brat, what’s the point of just listening to dirty jokes? Why not go to the Spirit Phoenix Pavilion for some real action?”

Evan blushed. “You’ve got it wrong, Big Brother Li. I’m not that kind of person! By the way, that sword you used today was incredible. Did you bring it from the Lower Realm?”

Mentioning his sword, James’s interest was piqued. He said proudly, “My sword is called Blazing Sun. I obtained it from a Forbidden Zone in the Heavenly Abyss. Its power is extraordinary. Even with my former Eighth Immortal Realm strength, I couldn’t fully wield it.”

“Oh?” Evan was surprised. “There are Forbidden Zones in the Cultivation World too? And such powerful swords?”

“Of course,” James recalled the life-and-death experiences of venturing into various Forbidden Zones and couldn’t help but sigh. “Not only are there Forbidden Zones, but even if I were ten or a hundred times stronger, there are some zones I still wouldn’t dare to enter.”

“Why is that? How did the Forbidden Zones in the Cultivation World come about?” Evan was very puzzled.

“Isn’t it obvious? The Forbidden Zones in the Lower Realm naturally come from the Upper Realm!” James said calmly.

“What do you mean?” Evan was even more confused.

“Let me ask you, how long has the Immortal World existed?” James asked.

“Who knows? Even the Immortal Emperors probably don’t know. How could I possibly know?” Evan shook his head.

“Exactly,” James said, popping a dried fruit into his mouth. “The Immortal World has existed for an unimaginably long time. Throughout history, countless wars have erupted between the great powers and races of the Immortal World. These wars often shattered the void and tore space apart.

“Think about it, where do you think the weapons, magical treasures, and even corpses that fall into these spatial rifts end up?”

“The Lower Realm!” Evan suddenly realized and blurted out.

“Correct,” James nodded and continued, “Although most things that fall into spatial rifts are destroyed, the sheer number of wars over the ages means that some valuable items inevitably end up in unstable realms. That’s the origin of the Forbidden Zones.”

“So, the Forbidden Zones in the Cultivation World can’t be underestimated. There might be treasures to be found. Maybe even the legendary Imperial Weapons and Imperial Artifacts could exist!” Evan’s eyes sparkled.

“In theory, yes, but practically, it’s unlikely,” James shook his head. “I’ve heard that the ancient Imperial Artifacts that fell to the Lower Realm were long ago collected by young Immortal Emperors who descended. Even the lesser ones were taken by Immortal Emperors and given to their descendants or loved ones.

“The remaining items are hard to obtain without luck. Lower Realm experts can’t get them, and Upper Realm experts can’t break through the spatial barriers to retrieve them. So, while Imperial Artifacts are unlikely, things like True Artifacts, Profound Artifacts, and Heavenly Artifacts might still be found.”

“I see.”

Evan remained calm on the surface, but he was secretly delighted.

He had a cross-realm stone, which theoretically allowed him to enter any Cultivation World.

Currently, his realm was low, and he didn’t dare to venture into most Forbidden Zones.

But in the future, when his realm improved and he reached the True Immortal or even higher realms, he would surely obtain countless treasures.

Why?

As James said, the indigenous people of the Cultivation World could only reach the Ninth Immortal Realm at most. Many Forbidden Zones were too dangerous for them. Meanwhile, True Immortals, Profound Immortals, and even Immortal Kings and Immortal Sovereigns from the Immortal World couldn’t cross realms to retrieve the treasures.

Thinking this through, Evan suddenly felt like all the treasures in the world were within his grasp.

Of course, to obtain these treasures, improving his realm and strength was crucial.

Without strength, everything was just a fantasy.

“Big Brother Li introducing me to a Cave Mansion for cultivation is a great opportunity. Otherwise, who knows how long it would take me to save enough money for cultivation.”

Evan thought to himself.

Frankly, even if Evan found materials in the Lower Realm to sell, it would take a long time to save enough for a lower-grade spirit cave.

Moreover, lower-grade spirit caves had thin Immortal Energy. Even after thousands or tens of thousands of years of cultivation, one might not become a True Immortal.

Joining a Cave Mansion was different.

A Cave Mansion capable of establishing a sect was at least a top-grade spirit cave. The concentration of Immortal Energy was hundreds or even thousands of times that of the lowest-grade spirit caves, making cultivation speed incomparable.

That’s why it was so difficult to become a disciple of an Immortal Sect’s spirit cave.

They drank for seven or eight hours.

Evan treated this banquet as both a farewell and a new beginning.

Before parting, James handed Evan an old red cloth. “Brother Chen, if the master of Sky Moon Cave refuses to accept you, show her this. She won’t make things difficult for you.”

Such good fortune!

Evan quickly took the red cloth but asked curiously, “Big Brother Li, if I may ask, who is the master of Sky Moon Cave to you?”

James hesitated for a moment but then said, “She was once my disciple in the Canglan Realm. That’s all I’ll say. I have important matters to attend to. Farewell, and may we meet again.”

With that, James took a jug of wine and left gracefully.

Evan didn’t feel too sad about the farewell. After all, they were immortals and could live for at least five thousand years. As long as they wanted to, they would meet again.

“Big Brother Li’s disciple has become a Cave Master. Tsk tsk. Since I’m like a brother to Big Brother Li, that makes me the master’s martial uncle. There’s no way she can refuse me. This is a sure thing!”

Evan was thrilled. For the first time, he experienced the feeling of having connections.

What a wonderful feeling!
