Chapter 74 – Natural Blood Spring

In the dream, Ethan Chen and his father were having a conversation.

After some discussion, they came up with a few methods to address the issue of the Blood Rice ceasing to grow.

For instance, they could spread straw around the Blood Rice plants, continuously light fires in the fertile fields, or even wrap the entire field with cloth and wood.

The purpose of these methods was to increase the temperature in the fields, thereby accelerating the growth of the Blood Rice and allowing it to mature sooner.

Ethan Chen nodded slightly after hearing this.

He had thought of these methods too, but aside from the first one, the others were quite troublesome and labor-intensive.

As for spreading straw, it might raise the temperature a bit, but the effect would likely be minimal.

Nevertheless, Ethan decided to give it a try the next day.

Regardless of the outcome, they couldn’t afford to give up on this batch of Blood Rice.

Regarding the Liu Family’s recent actions, Benjamin Chen suggested recalling all the clan members who were out investigating.

They would handle this matter themselves.

Having warriors investigate would inevitably leave traces and arouse suspicion. If the Liu Family had no intention of making a move, it could provoke them and put the clan in danger.

Given their current state, they were the most suitable for this task.

Considering the risk of soul bodies being discovered by warriors, Benjamin decided to have only the deceased clan members check for traces outside, without entering the Liu Family’s territory.

Although this would be slower, it was safer.

Moreover, with such a large-scale operation by the Liu Family, it was impossible for every place to be guarded by Blood Condensation Realm warriors. This was their chance to uncover the purpose.

After discussing in detail, Benjamin’s figure slowly faded from the dream.

The next day, the clan made a significant move. A large number of clan members were sent to the fertile fields to work on keeping the Blood Rice warm.

However, the spiritual fields were vast, and the clan’s manpower was insufficient. It took them an entire day to cover all the fields with straw.

In the following days, the clan’s warriors were busy in the fields.

Their efforts were not in vain. When Ethan Chen saw tiny grains forming in the previously shriveled rice ears, a hint of joy appeared on his worried face.

But after the initial joy, Ethan looked up at the sky and sighed inwardly.

Although the clan’s efforts had shown results, it was now almost December, and the weather was getting colder. Frost had already started to form at the higher elevations of Disordered Burial Mountain.

If this continued, it wouldn’t be long before the frost covered all the fields, making it difficult to harvest this batch of Blood Rice.

Their efforts couldn’t significantly change the situation in such extreme cold.

Watching the clan members still toiling in the fields, even Ethan felt a sense of helplessness.

Were they really going to give up?

But when he saw the smiles on the faces of the busy clan members, Ethan’s heart suddenly felt lighter.

Even if they couldn’t harvest this batch of Blood Rice, they could always plant again next year.

Ethan no longer dwelled on it and shouted loudly to the clan members in the fields:

“Everyone, extra rations tonight!”

“Thank you, Clan Chief!”

“Long live the Clan Chief!”

Hearing about the extra rations, the clan members worked even harder.

“Clan Chief, we’ve made a discovery!”

Inside the Liu Family, a middle-aged man listening to the report from a clan member suddenly stood up, his eyes flashing with excitement. He immediately said:

“Take me to see!”

Seeing the Clan Chief’s expression, the reporter hurriedly led the way.

A group of people quickly left the family grounds.

Before long, they arrived at a deep pit.

Outside the pit, many Liu Family members were guarding it. Upon closer inspection, it was clear that the lowest-ranked guards were Blood Condensation Realm warriors!

Around the pit, several tunnels had been dug.

These tunnels were haphazardly dug, with simple supports made of a few wooden stakes. The fresh soil piled outside the pit indicated that these tunnels had been dug recently.

The middle-aged man paid no attention to the seemingly dangerous tunnels and quickly entered one of the newly dug tunnels with a guide.

Soon, they reached the depths of the tunnel.

When the middle-aged man saw the red soil at the end of the tunnel, he became even more excited. He approached and touched it.

As he kneaded the soil, a hint of red blood seeped out.

Seeing the blood, the middle-aged man was overjoyed and exclaimed:

“Good, good, good! Keep digging!”

“This time, we must find the exact location of the natural Blood Spring!”

“Natural Blood Spring? What is that?”

In the Chen Clan, Ethan Chen looked puzzled in the dream.

Just now, Benjamin had entered the dream and told him about the information the clan members had gathered over the past few days.

After some analysis, Benjamin informed him that the Liu Family was likely searching for a natural Blood Spring.

Having never heard of this term, Ethan was naturally clueless. But seeing the serious expression on his father’s face, Ethan felt a sense of unease.

After a brief silence, Benjamin explained:

“The world is vast, and in some places, natural treasures can be found, giving rise to extraordinary effects.”

“A natural Blood Spring is one such treasure. It forms underground and doesn’t flow like a regular spring but creates an underground current, gradually altering the surroundings.”

He sighed and continued:

“The Blood Rice we grow is also due to this natural Blood Spring.”

“I had only suspected it before, but after personally inspecting the tunnels dug by the Liu Family last night, I confirmed they are indeed searching for the hidden natural Blood Spring in Disordered Burial Mountain.”

Ethan was stunned by this revelation.

He hadn’t expected such a thing to exist in the seemingly ordinary Disordered Burial Mountain.

But he quickly regained his composure and asked:

“Why is the Liu Family looking for the natural Blood Spring? Do they intend to take it away?”

Benjamin shook his head:

“Once a natural Blood Spring forms, it cannot be moved. They must have other reasons for seeking it. Although it’s a treasure, its effects are not particularly remarkable among natural treasures, mainly producing things like Blood Rice.”

“From what you’ve said, the Liu Family hasn’t been actively cultivating Blood Rice since arriving at Disordered Burial Mountain, indicating they don’t care about the spring’s secondary effects. Their goal is likely the natural Blood Spring itself.”
