Chapter 32 – Great battle

The two men stopped talking and joined the battle.

Outside the Ancestral Hall, the great battle was on the verge of breaking out.

After Oliver Chen and the others made their move, three more teams from the Li Clan quickly arrived.

As they approached, they saw that Oliver Chen, who had already reached the late-stage Blood Condensation Realm, was overwhelming the burly man. If they had arrived a moment later, the man’s life would have been in grave danger.

The burly man, despite being in the late-stage Blood Condensation Realm and severely injured, managed to survive. However, the first group that followed him to the Ancestral Hall had all perished, including another Blood Condensation Realm warrior.

The one who struck was none other than Ethan Chen, who controlled the Elder Ancestor’s corpse using the Corpse Refining Technique.

In a clan war, there was no such thing as dishonor. The goal was to eliminate the enemy and protect the clan.

Seeing their own clan members in such a dire state, the people of the Li Clan’s eyes turned red with rage. They grabbed their weapons and charged at the Chen Clan members.

The battle quickly reached a fever pitch.

Blood mixed with rainwater formed red streams, flowing through the gaps in the blue stone slabs and seeping into the soil.

Beneath the soil, Noah Ji’s roots stirred.

With a nervous heart, Noah Ji used his roots to slowly touch the rainwater mixed with blood.

“Thankfully, I can’t absorb it.”

Realizing he couldn’t absorb the blood, Noah Ji felt both regret and relief.

Although he was now a tree, he wasn’t truly a tree.

He was genuinely worried that he could absorb any kind of blood. What worried him more was his inability to control his inner desires.

Once the floodgates of desire opened, it would be hard to stop. Fortunately, the recent experiment proved that the floodgates remained closed.

“Lucas, have you picked your target yet?”

In a corner not far from the Ancestral Hall, Alexander Chen gripped his machete tightly and asked Lucas Chen beside him.

“Almost!”

Lucas Chen peered through the dense rain, selecting a suitable opponent for the two of them.

But on the left, there was a late-stage Body Tempering Realm warrior, and on the right, another late-stage Body Tempering Realm warrior.

Even the weakest warriors were in the mid-stage Body Tempering Realm.

This made Lucas Chen’s desire to save the clan hard to fulfill.

They were passionate, but Lucas Chen wasn’t foolish. Knowing they were outmatched, he wouldn’t choose an opponent they couldn’t defeat.

He hadn’t expected that the lowest-ranked warriors the Li Clan sent were all mid-stage Body Tempering Realm.

This left him in a dilemma.

As the two hesitated, a figure suddenly appeared in front of them.

It was a mid-stage Body Tempering Realm warrior from the Li Clan, who had just been beaten back by his opponent.

As he prepared to rejoin the fight, he noticed the two hidden figures behind him.

Seeing their appearance and age, the mid-stage Body Tempering Realm warrior couldn’t help but laugh.

“Hahaha, I caught two little brats from the Chen Clan!”

“Die!”

With that, he swung his large blade at Lucas Chen and Alexander Chen.

The two turned pale but reacted quickly, dodging in a hurry.

After dodging, Lucas Chen was about to tell Alexander Chen to run, but he quickly heard Alexander’s voice.

“Lucas, let’s take him!”

Alexander Chen’s eyes were resolute as he charged forward with his machete.

Lucas Chen was stunned but, seeing Alexander charge, gritted his teeth and followed.

After all, they were both Body Tempering Realm warriors, and though their opponent was mid-stage, he was alone.

One plus one equals two!

They thought the two of them could match him.

Seeing the two charging at him with weapons, the Li Clan warrior laughed.

Just two novices in the Body Tempering Realm, not fully tempered, thinking they could fight him—how naive.

In less than three moves, Lucas Chen and Alexander Chen were kicked away by the Li Clan warrior.

Seeing the Li Clan warrior approaching them with his large blade, Lucas Chen felt a chill in his heart.

It seemed one plus one didn’t necessarily equal two.

With their strength, they couldn’t match an adult Body Tempering Realm warrior.

Just as the Li Clan warrior was about to finish them off, there was a sudden disturbance underground.

Before the Li Clan warrior could react, a root as thick as a rope shot out from the ground, instantly binding his body.

“Damn it, what is this thing!”

The Li Clan warrior struggled against the sudden root, panic flashing in his eyes as he cursed.

Lucas Chen and Alexander Chen were also stunned.

But seeing the Li Clan warrior immobilized, the two youths felt a surge of courage, realizing this was a golden opportunity.

Though the Li Clan warrior’s body was restrained, his hands were free. Seeing the two preparing to attack, he shouted.

“Get lost!”

The Li Clan warrior’s eyes gleamed fiercely as he swung his large blade, preventing the two from getting close.

His desperate and frenzied aura made the two youths hesitate.

“Alexander, forget him, let’s run!”

Lucas Chen pulled Alexander Chen, ready to bypass the Li Clan warrior.

The restrained Li Clan warrior didn’t stop them. Calming down, he turned his attention to the root binding him, preparing to cut it with his blade.

Just as he found the right angle to free himself, he felt a sudden chill from behind.

Looking down, he saw a blade tip piercing his chest, and another blade tip emerging from below.

Behind him, the two youths, faces tense, quickly withdrew their machetes.

“Alexander, let’s go!”

“This time, for real!”

As the root retracted, the Li Clan warrior fell to the ground with a resentful expression.

Though not yet dead, he watched the two youths leave, letting out a final cry.

“Damn…!”

In the Ancestral Hall, Noah Ji fell silent.

He had thought the two were scared witless, but they had another plan.

Though the process was hard to watch, the result was good, making his intervention worthwhile.

But Noah Ji realized that while his enhanced roots were effective, they could only handle some Body Tempering Realm warriors. They were far from being a match for Blood Condensation Realm warriors. Relying on his roots to help the Chen Clan seemed difficult.
