“I have no idea!” Wesley Hu looked utterly confused.
Oliver Sheng’s displayed realm was Innate, but his combat power was off the charts. He fought against a Grandmaster without losing ground at all.
Who wouldn’t be bewildered by this?
Kaden Yu was equally perplexed.
Even when he used all his strength, he still couldn’t do anything to Oliver Sheng.
Oliver was like a monster; if Kaden’s strength increased, Oliver’s would too. If Kaden’s attacks weakened, so would Oliver’s.
“I refuse to believe your True Essence and blood energy are endless. Once I capture you, I’ll make you spill all your secrets,” Kaden said with a vicious look, continuing his assault to deplete Oliver’s energy and blood.
Oliver continued to counter every move, hiding his true strength.
To him, Kaden’s power was weak—his strength, blood energy, and Martial Arts True Qi were all feeble.
Several times, Oliver had the urge to kill him instantly.
If he fought seriously, Oliver was confident he could kill Kaden with one strike. But doing so would expose his true power to the public.
To keep his strength hidden and not scare away the Barbarian army outside the city, Oliver suppressed his urge to kill Kaden.
The two battled fiercely in the sky, and many began to suspect Oliver was a Grandmaster.
Yet, his aura remained at the Innate level.
On the ground, the Barbarian army continued their siege. Seeing no progress, some Barbarian commanders of the Postnatal Realm joined the attack to expedite the capture of River West County.
Seeing Postnatal Martial Artists join the fray, Cameron Guo and others also stepped in to block them.
“Kill!”
The city walls echoed with shouts of battle. The Barbarian army struggled to breach the walls, most being killed and falling off.
Any Barbarian soldiers who managed to get onto the walls were quickly slain by the garrison.
After thousands of exchanges, Kaden still couldn’t defeat Oliver, solidifying his belief that Oliver was indeed a Grandmaster.
This pretty-faced bastard was hiding his true strength.
Unable to defeat or capture Oliver, and with his plan to take River West County shattered, Kaden had no choice but to retreat to the barracks.
Oliver also returned to the city tower, watching the battlefield.
The garrison occasionally suffered casualties, but they were minimal, and Oliver had no intention of intervening.
As a general, he commanded the soldiers and defended against enemy experts. Soldier against soldier, general against general.
The battle continued until dusk, with the Barbarian army leaving over five thousand corpses before retreating.
Oliver also gained over five thousand Kill Points.
After the evening ceasefire, Cameron and the others looked at Oliver.
“General, have you broken through to the Grandmaster realm?” Wesley asked excitedly.
The others were equally curious, their eyes filled with anticipation as they looked at Oliver.
Oliver looked at his subordinates. Clearly, his performance today against the Barbarian Grandmaster was so extraordinary that anyone would doubt his cultivation level.
“No, I wish I could break through to the Grandmaster realm right now,” Oliver shook his head.
Despite their suspicions, he wouldn’t admit it. Unless faced with a Great Grandmaster, no one could see through his cultivation.
“Really not?”
His subordinates clearly didn’t believe him.
“What, do you think my talent and combat power can’t allow me to fight across realms?” Oliver said.
“Not this ridiculously across realms,” Cameron muttered softly.
“Enough muttering. Tonight, Wesley and Felix, you two will lead your cavalry units and follow the heavy cavalry out of the city. We’ll circle around to the back of the Barbarian army and launch an attack at dawn when they start their siege.”
“Cameron and Xiao Batian, you two will lead your units to defend the city. Once the Barbarian army retreats, launch a counterattack,” Oliver immediately ordered his four Colonels.
Defending the city wasn’t his style. Taking the initiative to annihilate the enemy was what he wanted.
“Yes, sir!”
Oliver issued the military orders, and everyone accepted them.
After sunset, the sky gradually darkened.
The Barbarian army camped five miles outside the city, clearly planning to continue the siege the next day.
In the Barbarian central command tent, Kaden didn’t look pleased. He had thought that leading fifty thousand troops against a small River West County would be a walk in the park.
But things often don’t go as planned. He encountered Oliver, this freak. Despite using all his strength, he couldn’t defeat Oliver.
Moreover, today’s siege cost him five thousand soldiers, while the River West County garrison suffered minimal casualties.
How many soldiers would he need to sacrifice to capture River West County through attrition?
Today’s failed siege left Kaden Yu, the young prince of the Xianyou Tribe, in silence.
Who would have thought that in just a few months, the garrison commander of River West County would have strength comparable to his Grandmaster uncle?
Kaden planned to deploy all the experts in his army to attack River West County the next day. He would personally hold off Oliver while the rest took the city in one swift move.
Without soldiers, the Great Wei garrison couldn’t hold a city.
After dinner, Oliver took some dry rations and led the heavy cavalry out of the south gate. Wesley and Felix also led their units, following behind.
Under the moonlight, Oliver led a thousand heavy cavalry and four thousand light cavalry to circle around to the back of the Barbarian army.
At dawn the next day, they launched an attack, directly charging into the Barbarian camp.
Both Oliver and Kaden were making their plans.
Before dawn, Oliver’s troops had a simple breakfast.
“Wesley, you lead two thousand cavalry to attack the left flank of the Barbarian army.”
“Yes, sir!” Wesley saluted and accepted the order.
“Felix, you lead two thousand cavalry to attack the right flank of the Barbarian army.”
“Yes, General!”
Oliver himself led a thousand heavy cavalry to charge from the rear.
It was undoubtedly a bold decision.
Five thousand cavalry daring to charge at an army of over forty thousand.
The Barbarian army was mostly cavalry, outnumbering Oliver’s forces by eight or nine times.
Following orders, Wesley and Felix led their units to charge from both flanks of the Barbarian army.
Oliver led a thousand heavy cavalry closer to the Barbarian camp.
When they were five miles away, the sound of their horses’ hooves alerted the Barbarian army.
The Barbarian soldiers, having breakfast, quickly reported the sighting of a cavalry unit behind them.
“General, there’s an unidentified cavalry unit behind us.”
“Cavalry? Are you sure they’re not ours?” Kaden asked the reporting soldier.
“General, no. Their armor and gear look like those of the Great Wei.”
“What?”
“The Great Wei cavalry is behind us?”
“How bold!”
Kaden abandoned his breakfast and immediately went to the rear, looking at the distant cavalry.
With his eyesight, he could clearly see the command flag of the River West County garrison.
The flag bore a large “Sheng” character, fluttering prominently in the wind.
“What audacity, daring to lead cavalry out of the city to challenge us!” Kaden laughed angrily, more infuriated than amused.
Daring to engage the Barbarian cavalry in a direct confrontation, how much did they underestimate him?
“Prepare two thousand cavalry units to face the enemy,” Kaden ordered immediately.
He planned to send out two thousand cavalry to crush the Great Wei cavalry.
“Yes, General!”
A commander at the Innate Great Perfection realm accepted the order and immediately assembled two thousand cavalry to eliminate the enemy cavalry behind them.
“Switch horses, armor up, prepare to charge!”
Oliver shouted to his troops.
Ahead was the Barbarian camp, and he intended to crush this Barbarian army in one blow.
The soldiers skillfully dismounted, took the heavy armor from the packhorses, and quickly armored themselves and their unburdened warhorses.
Once the soldiers and horses were armored, the oppressive aura of the iron armor was palpable.
The Barbarian cavalry had already left their camp, galloping towards Oliver’s troops.
Two thousand cavalry, raising clouds of dust, creating an imposing sight.
On the city walls, Xiao Chuyi, Cameron, Magistrate Chen, and others watched the Barbarian army’s banners with worry.
Engaging the Barbarian cavalry on open ground was extremely risky.
Behind Oliver, the soldiers and warhorses in heavy armor silently watched the approaching Barbarian cavalry. These thousand men were Oliver’s veterans, strong and truly elite.
Oliver had used a large amount of pills and blood to elevate these thousand soldiers to the Martial Artist realm.
Now, it was time to test the combat power of this heavy cavalry.
“Warriors, we’ve trained hard for half a year. Now, it’s time to test our results,” Oliver shouted.
“Are you afraid?” Oliver asked, raising his iron spear.
“Not afraid!”
“Not afraid!”
The soldiers, filled with fighting spirit, shouted back.
“Wind!”
Oliver shouted.
“Great wind!”
“Great wind!”
“Men, now is the time to achieve glory and titles. Follow me and charge the enemy!”
Oliver ordered, leading his troops to charge at the Barbarian cavalry.
“Kill!”
The thousand heavy cavalry charged, their momentum not at all inferior to the two thousand Barbarian cavalry.
The thunderous sound of hooves shook the earth, their aura like a rainbow. The thousand ironclad soldiers were like a torrent, ready to destroy everything.
“Kill!”
“Men, crush them and show the Wei people the might of our Barbarian warriors,” Xian Bolan shouted, leading two thousand cavalry towards Oliver’s troops.
Two thousand cavalry, a massive force, creating a terrifying momentum.
As Oliver led his troops in the charge, his aura leaked for a moment, and Kaden immediately sensed Oliver’s presence.
“Damn!”
