Chapter 31 – Extraordinary Perception

Ye Shuangluo slowly opened his eyes and blinked in confusion.

The world seemed different to him now.

Upon waking up, he noticed the air was filled with various colorful particles.

The green and ice-blue particles seemed particularly close to him. He realized these particles must be elements.

[Congratulations, Reserve Player. Perception has broken through 20 points, reaching the Extraordinary standard.]

[Since Perception is not a Five-Dimensional Attribute, Extraordinary Force Field cannot be activated.]

[Congratulations, Reserve Player, for comprehending a special skill: Seventh Sense.]

[Due to your special attribute: Perception breaking through 20 points, you can choose one of the following rewards:]

[1. Eye of Illusion Break (Increases illusion resistance by 25 points)]

[2. Six Ears (Periodically, you can hear some unknown secrets)]

[3. Blood Hunter’s Nose (When you come into contact with blood, if its owner is within a thousand miles, you can sense their location)]

[4. Tiger’s Tongue (Your tongue extends by 0.5 meters and grows barbs)]

[5. Sage’s Hand (When you touch items made by other players, there is a chance to obtain the recipe for that item)]

Ye Shuangluo pondered over the five rewards. They seemed to correspond to the five senses.

First, he eliminated Six Ears and Tiger’s Tongue. He wasn’t afraid of becoming an oddity, but the benefits of these two were too low.

Then he ruled out Sage’s Hand, as its current benefits were minimal.

Ultimately, he had to choose between Eye of Illusion Break and Blood Hunter’s Nose.

One was a straightforward increase in illusion resistance, while the other was a tracking ability.

After a brief consideration, he chose Eye of Illusion Break.

No matter what, he wanted to maximize his illusion resistance. He could never forget the experience of being manipulated like a puppet by Shan Ren.

That humiliation, he would never forget.

After selecting his reward, he opened the skill panel to check the special skill he had comprehended.

[Seventh Sense Lv.max]

[Type: Special Skill (Passive)]

[Effect: Child of Elements (You will be favored by all elements, increasing your affinity with them. All-element resistance +20)]

[PS: This skill cannot be enhanced through conventional means.]

[Description: There are a million different Seventh Senses for a million people. Even blood relatives won’t have the same Seventh Sense.]

Well, as expected of a special skill that requires Perception to reach 20 to comprehend, its effects are indeed powerful.

Right off the bat, it grants +20 to all-element resistance.

As a seasoned gamer, Ye Shuangluo naturally noticed something: it cannot be enhanced through conventional means.

Which means it can be enhanced through unconventional means.

Interesting.

Ye Shuangluo’s lips curled up slightly. It seemed the road ahead for him was still long.

Of course, future matters could wait. The most important thing now was…

Ye Shuangluo eagerly took out the “Asura Demon Eye” from his space backpack, carefully blowing off the non-existent dust.

[Do you wish to learn the skill?]

“Yes, yes, stop with the nonsense!”

He could hardly wait. Finally, he could add this skill to his skill set.

As Ye Shuangluo chose “yes,” the skill book instantly dissipated, and he successfully learned the “Asura Demon Eye.”

Phew…

At last, he had resolved one of his major concerns, but… there were still more.

Ye Shuangluo opened his space backpack again. Next to where the “Asura Demon Eye” had been, there was a black special skill stone, pulsating like a heart.

Its rhythm matched Ye Shuangluo’s heartbeat, seemingly unchanged.

But the progress bar had broken through from 0 to 15%, a significant leap.

However, he still didn’t know how to increase it.

Judging by its name, could it be related to killing, destruction, or some inner desire?

But he didn’t bother to think too much about it and tossed it back into the space backpack to gather dust.

As long as the progress bar increased, he would wait until it reached 100%.

Closing the space backpack, Ye Shuangluo opened the quest panel again.

[Congratulations, Reserve Player, for completing Main Quest 1.]

[Generating new main quest… Generation complete.]

[Main Quest 2: Choice]

[Quest Description: The capital is currently home to multiple factions.

There is the “Emperor” and his mysterious imperial guards.

There are the Rebels, who rise against the tyrannical and incompetent king.

There is the “Thieves’ Guild,” seeking retribution for an old grievance from a hundred years ago.

There are the “Demons,” who, despite their arrogance, aim to slay the Immortal.

And then there are a few foolish, ambitious clowns plotting for the divine stone.

You must choose one of these factions and help them achieve their goal.]

[Quest Reward: No reward generated without choosing a faction.]

After reading the quest description, Ye Shuangluo began to compare the factions.

First was the Emperor, the ruler of the capital. This one was easy to eliminate.

The reason was simple. When Ye Shuangluo first entered the capital, his talent had suddenly activated without warning.

[This world has been fully analyzed. Generating a series of achievements for you.]

[Ding, special achievements generated.]

[Achievement: Assassinate the King]

[Achievement Requirement: Slay the two-hundred-year-old emperor in broad daylight.]

[Achievement: Demon Slayer]

[Achievement Requirement: Kill five evil demons (0/5)]

Although it was supposed to be a series of achievements, there were only two.

Perhaps his talent had sensed Ye Shuangluo’s dissatisfaction with the emperor, hence generating such achievements.

Although he knew it would be difficult, he still wanted to complete the “Assassinate the King” achievement if possible.

So he would never choose the Emperor’s faction.

The second faction was the Rebels.

To be honest, he wasn’t surprised that there was a rebellion. After all, the one sitting at the top was a tyrannical, senile old emperor.

If no one opposed him, that would be abnormal.

As for the “Thieves’ Guild,” judging by the name, was it a guild of thieves?

But they were here to seek retribution, which left Ye Shuangluo uncertain.

The last faction was the “Demons,” who aimed to slay the Immortal.

Ye Shuangluo recalled what Shan Ren had told him about becoming a “Demon.”

A hybrid of human and demon, requiring awakening.

But why would they gather in the capital to slay the Immortal, unless…

He seemed to understand something. Was the Immortal, who lived only in others’ words and legends, also in the capital now?

If that were true, then achieving the “Assassinate the King” achievement would be much harder.

After all, the Immortal seemed to have a good relationship with the emperor and had even bestowed a divine stone to forge an immortal body for him.

Given this, the most suitable choice for him was indeed the Rebels, as both shared the same goal: the emperor.

As for the faction of ambitious clowns, Ye Shuangluo directly ignored them. There was nothing more to say about them.

Having confirmed his target, his next task was to find the Rebels and join them.
