Chapter 22 – Runaway Twins

The three types of rewards given by the achievement were equally generous. Let’s not even mention the Solo Guild Permission Card for now, as its usefulness is still uncertain.

The other two achievement rewards, Luck and Perception, are rare attributes that cannot be increased through conventional means.

The former can increase his chances of getting good items from treasure chests in the future, and some skills might also require it.

If this game has a strengthening feature, then the role of Luck would be even greater.

As for the Perception attribute, although he couldn’t see the specific value, the noticeable enhancement of his five senses each time it increased was undeniable.

It’s worth mentioning that after receiving the achievement rewards, he took out the “Asura Demon Eye” skill book and tried to learn it again.

The result was still a system prompt indicating a learning failure, which made him shake his head. He really didn’t know when he would be able to incorporate this skill into his skill tree.

Unlike the Perception attribute, the increase in the Luck attribute didn’t bring any particular sensation. It wasn’t like other attributes, where you could immediately feel the change once they increased.

However, on the attribute panel, his Luck attribute had indeed increased.

Unfortunately, the Elite Slayer achievement didn’t have a higher-level achievement.

This meant that no matter how many more elite units Ye Shuangluo killed in the future, there was no way to further increase his Luck attribute.

What a pity. Ye Shuangluo had originally thought that after obtaining the Elite Slayer achievement, he might get a higher-level achievement like Leader Hunter.

Oh well, Ye Shuangluo shrugged, not feeling too regretful. After all, there would be plenty of opportunities in the future.

At dawn, before the sky was fully bright, Ye Shuangluo, who had traveled all night, returned to the small town.

The first thing he did upon returning to the town was to head to Changshengtang. Perhaps because he had come too early, it wasn’t open yet.

He wasn’t in a hurry, so he waited at the door for a while. After the rooster crowed, the wooden door in front of him was gently opened.

Doctor Xue had just opened the door when he saw Ye Shuangluo standing in front of him, clad in blood-red armor.

“You… why are you here so early?”

Although he found it strange that this young man, whose behavior and attire were both odd, had changed into a suit of armor, Doctor Xue didn’t ask. Instead, he invited Ye Shuangluo inside.

Upon entering the house, Ye Shuangluo immediately clasped his fists and bowed deeply.

Doctor Xue was startled and quickly reached out to help Ye Shuangluo up.

“What are you doing? I can’t accept this.”

“No, sir, you absolutely deserve my bow. Thanks to the medicinal powder you gave me, I was able to eliminate the bandits in the Tian Nan Mountain Range.”

Hearing Ye Shuangluo’s words, Doctor Xue was first stunned, then seemed to understand something, and looked at the young man in front of him with surprise.

“You… you went to the Tian Nan Mountain Range last night?”

Ye Shuangluo nodded and said calmly, “Mission accomplished. All the bandits in the Tian Nan Mountain Range are dead.”

“You were too hasty. You should have planned more carefully, otherwise…”

Suddenly, Doctor Xue stopped. He must have misheard. He seemed to have heard something unbelievable.

“You… you just said, all the bandits are… dead!”

Doctor Xue stammered, looking at Ye Shuangluo in shock. When he saw the other nod, his mind exploded.

The bandits in the Tian Nan Mountain Range, if he remembered correctly, numbered at least thirty or forty thousand.

Even if he had given him ten whole sacks of medicinal powder, how did he manage to eliminate them all in one night?

Doctor Xue racked his brains but couldn’t figure out how he did it.

After all, he was just an ordinary person. How could he imagine someone scattering the medicinal powder into the wind, letting the wind carry it into the stronghold?

“Thanks to the medicinal powder you gave me, Doctor Xue, otherwise I wouldn’t have known how to deal with those damned bandits.”

Ye Shuangluo looked gratefully at Doctor Xue, who could be considered his benefactor.

If it weren’t for him, he wouldn’t have been able to complete this side quest perfectly, nor would he have received such generous rewards.

He was naturally not the kind of person who would be ungrateful and not think of repaying kindness. The first thing he did upon returning to the town was to come to Changshengtang to thank him.

“Doctor Xue, here are 800 taels of silver notes. Please accept them.”

Ye Shuangluo took out the silver notes from his space backpack and handed them to Doctor Xue, but Doctor Xue seemed to still be in shock and hadn’t recovered.

Ye Shuangluo shook his head helplessly. He could understand the other party’s reaction.

If it were the Main World, before he became a player, and someone told him that someone could withstand a nuclear bomb and not die, he would probably have the same reaction.

In the end, Ye Shuangluo left the silver notes for Doctor Xue and then got up to leave.

As he left, Doctor Xue’s eyes were filled with complexity, both admiration and fear.

“This young man, I… can’t see through him. But someone like him, who kills without batting an eye, will probably stir up a storm of blood wherever he goes.”

Doctor Xue watched the young man’s back, thinking of his terrifying action and execution capabilities, and felt a bit uneasy for the martial world and the country.

But then he found it somewhat amusing. Perhaps this young man would cause chaos in the martial world and the country, but what did that have to do with him, a mere doctor?

Returning to the inn, the prison cart was gone, and so was Lin Xingchen.

Ye Shuangluo asked the innkeeper and learned that shortly after he left, Lin Xingchen had checked out and left with the twins in the prison cart.

As for this result, well, it was expected.

When he left, seeing the twins in the cage talking to Lin Xingchen, he guessed that Lin Xingchen might be persuaded.

Whether intentionally or unintentionally, he helped the two escape.

According to the innkeeper, shortly after he left, Lin Xingchen checked out and left with the two fox girls.

This meant they had been on the run for a night.

One had to admit, if an ordinary bodyguard encountered such a situation, they might really have no solution, but Ye Shuangluo was no ordinary bodyguard.

He directly called up the quest panel, opened the main quest interface, and clicked on the tracking option.

A small map instantly appeared before his eyes, with the two most conspicuous red dots moving continuously.

This was his confidence. With this quest tracking feature, no matter how the two fox girls jumped around, they couldn’t escape his grasp.

Before leaving, to thank the innkeeper for always answering his questions enthusiastically, he casually rewarded him with a piece of gold.

The innkeeper, perhaps never having seen such a generous guest, was moved to tears. Perhaps out of a sense of reciprocation, he hurriedly said:

“Sir, if you’re going to find your companions, please be careful. There’s a white tiger nearby that has killed many hunters and passersby.”

White tiger?

Ye Shuangluo’s eyes lit up. He hadn’t forgotten the achievement “Gourmet” triggered when he ate the Mandrillus sphinx meat upon entering this world.

To achieve this, he needed to eat five special delicacies.

He didn’t know what kind of delicacies were considered special, but if he used the Mandrillus sphinx “Big Jin” as a standard, perhaps animals that had become spirits or were about to become spirits were special delicacies.

However, guessing here was useless. The best way to verify was to take a bite of the white tiger meat, and the answer would naturally be revealed.

With that, Ye Shuangluo, full of anticipation, rode his horse in the direction of the two red dots on the small map.
