Chapter 20 – Generous Quest Reward

“Li, so it was you and this kid working together all along!”

Just as Ye Shuangluo finished speaking, Hu Laosi slammed the table and stood up again.

Even their one-eyed leader looked gloomy, staring coldly at him and said, “Sixth Brother, you need to give us an explanation.”

Compared to Hu Laosi’s agitation, Li Six-Fingers was much calmer. He slowly explained, “Big Brother, Fourth Brother, this young man just said I have six fingers, which means he only heard of my reputation before and is meeting me for the first time. How could he be working with me?”

Hu Laosi and the one-eyed leader were taken aback. Thinking it over, it seemed to make sense.

“Hahaha.”

Ye Shuangluo couldn’t help but laugh heartily. How could there be such foolish bandits? How did they survive until today?

He looked at the bandits within the stronghold. Some were dead, some unconscious.

Clearly, despite their numbers and high reputation in the martial world, they were just a rabble.

Otherwise, so many wouldn’t have died.

Now, those merely unconscious were considered the elite among these bandits.

As for those still conscious, there were even fewer—probably only sixteen bandit leaders.

After all, according to Doctor Xue, those with strong internal energy could resist the effects of the drug to some extent.

At this moment, Li Six-Fingers suddenly asked, “Young man, who exactly are you, and what deep hatred do you have with the Tian Nan Mountain Range to resort to such ruthless measures?

You commit such inhumane acts, do you think there’s still a place for you in this vast martial world?”

Ye Shuangluo looked at Li Six-Fingers, whose forehead was now beaded with sweat, as if speaking had exhausted him greatly.

Clearly, even if his internal energy was strong enough to resist the poison, he was still suffering.

Hearing the other’s attempt to accuse him, Ye Shuangluo sneered, “If we’re talking about inhumanity, you lot are far worse.

Your leader just said you have a formidable reputation in the martial world, built on the bones of countless innocent people.

Killing you all is an act of justice, a great merit.

As for who I am, that’s not important. What’s important is that you all will meet Yama today.”

“Impudent!”

Lin Laowu, who had a white tiger tattoo on his chest, roared and grabbed a spiked club, leaping at Ye Shuangluo.

[Your passive skill “Master of Weapons” has activated. The enemy must make a Will judgment.]

[Judgment… failed. Forced stun for 0.5 seconds.]

Clang!

Ye Shuangluo easily parried the blow, using one arm to knock the spiked club away, then swiftly slashed Lin Laowu in half at the waist.

Lin Laowu didn’t resist at all, standing there dumbfounded like an idiot.

“Fifth Brother!”

The remaining leaders showed sorrowful expressions, perhaps because of their deep brotherly bond, or perhaps because they realized they were next.

The skill “Master of Weapons” truly deserved its own page in the skill panel, directly forcing opponents into a stun during battle.

“Damn it, brothers, grab your weapons, let’s take him down together.”

Following their leader’s command, the hot-tempered Hu Laosi immediately picked up a hammer and swung it at Ye Shuangluo, who dodged by tilting his head.

Hu Laosi forcibly channeled his internal energy, grabbing another hammer with one hand and charging at Ye Shuangluo.

At the critical moment, “Master of Weapons” activated again.

Hu Laosi froze in place, and Ye Shuangluo didn’t miss the opportunity, slicing off his arm holding the hammer and kicking his knee, making him kneel.

When Hu Laosi came to, he was already kneeling with a blade to his neck, the pain and emptiness in his arm making him realize what had happened.

He looked up at the strange young man with some reluctance, but the other looked at him with pity and reminded him, “I suggest you take a look behind you.”

Hu Laosi turned his head with difficulty, and the scene before him almost made him faint from anger.

It turned out that right after the one-eyed leader gave the order, he had turned to escape through a secret passage, with the others following him.

Only Hu Laosi, the honest person, had actually grabbed his weapon and charged.

“Next time, don’t believe everything people say.”

Thud!

Before Hu Laosi could turn his head back, he was beheaded. His last look showed reluctance and anger, but no regret.

Clearly, he didn’t regret being a bandit, nor did he regret committing so many heinous acts.

After beheading him, Ye Shuangluo didn’t linger, summoning the Wind Element to his legs and chasing after the escaping bandits.

The hurried footsteps behind made the slowest, Eighth and Ninth Brothers, turn their heads.

What greeted them was a blade covered in Wind Element.

The blade pierced their hearts, skewering them like candied hawthorns.

This scene shattered the spirits of the remaining bandits, especially when they noticed the boy’s eyes—cold and emotionless.

The cold eyes and the boy’s slaughtering actions made them realize they would likely meet the same fate.

The leader’s face darkened. He knew that if the Fifth Brother was killed in one move, the Fourth Brother wouldn’t last long either.

But he didn’t expect the Fourth Brother to be just as weak, also killed without resistance.

Thump, thump, thump!

They could all hear their own quickening heartbeats—fear, a feeling they hadn’t experienced in years.

“If you let us go, all our treasures are yours.”

Giggle!

The Twelfth Leader tried to bribe Ye Shuangluo, but before he could finish, he was split in half.

“Let me live, I’ll be your dog.”

Giggle!

The Eighth Leader knelt without hesitation, crushing his dignity, only to be beheaded.

The remaining leaders watched their long-time brothers die one by one, and finally decided to fight together.

Though they knew they stood no chance against the boy, they still clung to a sliver of hope, wanting to struggle.

But weakened by the drug, they were no match for Ye Shuangluo.

In a few swift moves, they were all cut down, their blood and flesh scattered.

Giggle!

With one final stab, Ye Shuangluo pierced Li Six-Fingers’ heart. Looking at the blood and three white treasure chests at his feet, he burst into laughter.

He had succeeded, completing what seemed an impossible task.

He put the treasure chests into his space backpack and turned to leave, setting the wine cellar on fire as he went.

The wind fanned the flames, quickly engulfing the stronghold.

Standing on a nearby hill, Ye Shuangluo watched as the flames consumed the stronghold like a small city.

His pupils reflected the raging fire in orange-red hues.

The fire would burn away all evil. Under the blazing flames, those merely unconscious bandits would all be burned to death.

He didn’t care if there were innocents among those he poisoned or burned. Perhaps some didn’t deserve to die, but so what? He wasn’t a judge, nor the government.

Moreover, since they enjoyed the benefits of others’ violence, they should bear the consequences. That was only fair.

He pulled up the Quest Panel and chose to submit the quest.
