In the end, Ye Shuangluo didn’t kill “Granny Tang.”
After all, from her trembling body, Ye Shuangluo understood.
The items she gave him might not have been meant to harm him, but rather a simple act of cowardice, a way to avoid disaster by losing some wealth.
He took out a “Spiritual Resonance Candy” from his space backpack, unwrapped it, and popped it into his mouth.
“Hmm, orange flavor.”
[Consumed “Spiritual Resonance Candy,” Spiritual Power limit +10]
Chewing the candy, Ye Shuangluo asked his teammate beside him.
“Where’s the Judgement Chamber?”
“Sixth floor.”
Cai’er still seemed absent-minded, clearly unable to comprehend.
When the two of them left earlier, “Granny Tang” had slumped into her chair, looking as if she had narrowly escaped death.
She wasn’t a fool; it was obvious why “Granny Tang” had given so many items to Luo City’s teammate.
As a player with Charisma as her main attribute, Cai’er was deeply puzzled.
Could it be that the Charisma attribute was really useless?
The items she had worked so hard to earn through building rapport were easily obtained by others just by intimidating NPCs.
Cai’er began to question her chosen path. Should she have focused on Intelligence, Strength, and Agility instead, and simply held a knife to NPCs’ throats for quicker results?
Ignoring the girl whose beliefs were crumbling, Ye Shuangluo headed to the sixth floor on his own.
As he stepped into the Judgement Chamber, a slight dizziness hit him.
When the dizziness faded, he found himself in a pure white space.
Inside the Judgement Chamber, it was a whole different world.
Clang, clang, clang!
Countless chains attacked from all directions, binding Ye Shuangluo’s hands and feet, and even several chains wrapped around his neck.
“Ye Shuangluo of Group 1, do you know your crime?”
He looked up to see thirteen thrones above, six of which were empty, while seven were occupied by the prominent figures of the “Dawn” Committee.
Their eyes looked down on him as if he were an ant that had broken the rules, seemingly ready to judge him from on high.
“I have no crime to confess, so what crime is there to know?”
As soon as he spoke, the owner of the throne on the far left was immediately displeased.
“How dare you! Even here, you dare to speak such nonsense.”
The next second, a terrifying gravity pressed down on Ye Shuangluo, trying to force him to his knees.
“The one being presumptuous is you!”
With a thought, countless azure ice spikes flew toward the throne’s owner who had imposed the gravity.
Caught off guard, no one reacted in time.
The owner of the throne, an elder, had a body that had deteriorated from years of indulgence.
In an instant, the ice spikes pierced him like a sieve.
Bang!
His body fell from the throne, crashing heavily to the ground, lifeless.
The gravity on Ye Shuangluo vanished with the elder’s death.
The Judgement Chamber fell silent, the scene that had just unfolded left them in disbelief.
“Why… can you still use your ability?”
A trembling female voice asked the question.
Clearly, the others couldn’t fathom it either.
Any Ability User entering the Judgement Chamber would be shackled with the God-Restraining Chains.
Once bound, an Ability User would be rendered powerless, like a lamb to the slaughter.
Yet Ye Shuangluo, though chained, could still use his abilities, defying all logic.
Ye Shuangluo, however, couldn’t be bothered to explain. With a slight exertion of his wrists and ankles, he broke the chains.
In an instant, all the chains binding him were destroyed.
“Now… tell me, who do you intend to judge?”
Ye Shuangluo drew the Mortal Kill, his overwhelming Killing Aura unabashedly enveloping the entire chamber.
Under this terrifying aura, several of the throne occupants couldn’t control their bodies and tumbled down.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A somewhat composed young man on a throne sternly questioned:
“Do you know what you’re doing?”
Before he could finish, a powerful force pulled him from the throne, his body uncontrollably flying toward the young man wielding a long blade.
Swoosh!
In a swift motion, the young man’s head rolled to the side.
In the blink of an eye, the seven prominent figures who had been poised to judge Ye Shuangluo were reduced to just two survivors.
At that moment, a silver-haired young man suddenly activated his ability, summoning a fiery red handgun.
Bang!
He shot his companion in the head, then raised his hands high, shouting:
“I surrender, consider this my offering of allegiance.”
Ye Shuangluo reached out, pulling the silver-haired young man down.
Perhaps because of his bizarre actions, Ye Shuangluo didn’t kill him immediately.
With the blade at the silver-haired young man’s neck, Ye Shuangluo quietly observed him.
The silver-haired young man, cherishing his remaining time, spoke rapidly yet clearly:
“Though you might not believe it, most of us bear you no ill will.
This trial was merely Old Man Long’s personal vendetta.”
He pointed to the elder pierced by ice spikes and continued:
“He was Long Yiyi’s father. You killed his daughter, so naturally, he sought revenge.
Old Man Long is a senior figure, and we juniors couldn’t refuse him.
Moreover, they were all worried that if you dared to wipe out Group 4 today over personal grievances, would you dare to put a knife to their throats tomorrow?
So they wanted to use this opportunity to intimidate you, and if you didn’t comply, they even considered killing you.”
Ye Shuangluo looked at him expressionlessly, his voice cold:
“Well said. Now, give me a reason not to kill you.”
The silver-haired young man knew that if his next words failed to satisfy this young man, he would join the others in death.
“The current dissatisfaction within ‘Dawn’ towards you is mostly because you wiped out Group 4 over personal grievances.
But the outcome of any matter is dictated by the victor.
What’s important isn’t what they did, but what you say they did.”
“…Continue.”
The silver-haired young man’s heartbeat slowed slightly as he continued:
“So, I can help you ‘dispel rumors’ within ‘Dawn.’
Ye Shuangluo of Group 1 didn’t wipe out Group 4 over personal grievances but because Group 4 had colluded with ‘Eternal Night.’
Upon discovering this, Ye Shuangluo of Group 1 selflessly eliminated them to protect the people of Dayan.
The conclusion is: Ye Shuangluo of Group 1 is not only innocent but a hero of ‘Dawn.’”
After saying these words, the silver-haired young man closed his eyes, awaiting the final verdict.
About a minute later, he suddenly felt a weight lift from his shoulders.
“Make sure to ‘dispel the rumors’ quickly.”
Leaving those words, the young man pushed open the door and left the Judgement Chamber.
Ye Shuangluo still had the challenge achievement of becoming a “Ten Days,” so he couldn’t leave “Dawn” just yet.
Since someone was willing to help him “dispel rumors,” it saved him the trouble of using force and going on a killing spree.
After all, someone as kind-hearted as Ye Shuangluo generally preferred not to commit unnecessary acts of violence.
