In the living room, Huo Ling asked worriedly, “Are you really going to Dragon City?”
Ye Shuangluo shrugged nonchalantly and said, “Yeah, they invited me so warmly, it would be rude to refuse.”
“But… Long Yiyi is a lunatic! If you go, there’s no way you’ll come out unscathed.”
Huo Ling was anxious, constantly coming up with ideas to help him. “If it really doesn’t work, you can hide out for a few days until things calm down, or we can try to contact the team leader. He’ll definitely help you.”
Ye Shuangluo just shook his head lightly and asked Xiao Chenyu beside him, “Can we go now?”
“Anytime.”
Ye Shuangluo smiled and patted Huo Ling’s shoulder, saying casually, “When I get back, we’ll go on a mission together.”
With that, he was ready to experience firsthand the difference between this world’s spatial teleportation and the game system’s.
Just then, Bai Ge’s voice suddenly rang out, “Hey, when you get back, you owe me a trip to Xia City. His birthday is coming up, and we need to get him a gift.”
Ye Shuangluo nodded, knowing exactly who Bai Ge was referring to. Bai Ge was such a filial son, always combining his dad’s birthday and death anniversary into one event to save trouble.
He glanced at Xiao Chenyu, who was holding a map. The location of Dragon City on the map was glowing.
Finally, the map’s light intensified, and the two of them slowly disappeared into the glow.
After they left, Bai Ge was about to leave too, but Huo Ling suddenly called out to him, “Aren’t you worried about Ah Luo at all?”
Bai Ge stopped, chuckled lightly, and then asked, “Worried? What’s there to worry about? Is this your first day knowing Ye Shuangluo? He’s not the kind to seek his own death. If he’s going, it means he’s confident he can get out unscathed. Compared to him, I think you should be more worried about those high-and-mighty folks in Group 4. Based on what we know about him, he won’t tolerate their nonsense.”
Bai Ge looked in the direction of Dragon City, muttering, “Tsk tsk, I can already smell the bloodbath.”
…
Dragon City
Ye Shuangluo looked extremely pale, on the verge of collapse. Xiao Chenyu’s teleportation ability felt almost the same as the game system’s. Although he didn’t vomit like Huo Ling did last time, he still had to lean on Mortal Kill’s hilt to avoid falling.
“Alright, I’ve brought you to Dragon City. Do you need any more help? Should I point you in the direction of Group 4?”
Ye Shuangluo declined Xiao Chenyu’s offer. From their first meeting, this woman had been overly attentive, often looking at him with longing eyes. If he hadn’t sensed no malice from her, he would have found a chance to get rid of her long ago.
“Alright, alright, consider this a favor you owe me.”
“Fine, I owe you one. In the future, I’ll agree to one reasonable request that doesn’t go against my principles.”
“Okay, see you around then, mua~”
Before leaving, she even blew him a kiss. Ye Shuangluo felt uncomfortable all over. What was with this woman? Could she possibly like him?
He quickly shook his head, dismissing the thought. To be fair, Xiao Chenyu was very beautiful and knew how to dress well. At least Comrade Huo and the filial son Bai Ge often stole glances at her legs. If her attributes were quantified, her innate charisma would be at least 9 points.
Having such a beauty like him, any normal man would secretly rejoice, if not immediately fall head over heels. But Ye Shuangluo felt something was off about her, though he couldn’t pinpoint what, and that was the most awkward part.
Pulling Mortal Kill from the ground and sheathing it, he decided to explore Dragon City. After all, it was a new map, and there might be hidden NPCs or quests.
…
“Ke ke ke, this is the price for littering and wasting water and electricity.”
A monster made of various types of garbage cackled. Its left hand was water, and its right hand was electricity. As it laughed, it reached its claw towards a small boy who couldn’t run because his legs were weak.
“Xiaobao!”
Not far away, the boy’s mother wanted to rush back to save her child but was held back by her husband. Everyone seemed unwilling to witness the scene, knowing that the boy would be turned into garbage in the next moment.
Crack!
The monster’s claw didn’t touch the boy but hit an ice shield instead.
Swish, swish, swish!
In the next second, countless wind blades sliced the monster into dozens of pieces.
Slash!
A blade imbued with ice element cut through the garbage monster, freezing it instantly.
The boy looked up to see a big brother in blood-red armor standing in front of him, blocking both the sunlight and all the dangers.
“Xiaobao.”
The boy’s mother ran over, losing one of her high heels in the process.
“Mom!”
The mother and son embraced, crying, while the father stood aside, looking like an outsider.
“Thank you, thank you for saving my son.”
The boy’s mother wiped her tears and bowed to Ye Shuangluo.
“No need to thank me. It’s what we members of ‘Dawn’ should do.”
…
After Ye Shuangluo mentioned he was a member of ‘Dawn,’ the air seemed to freeze. The boy’s mother quickly pulled her son away, as if he were some monster.
Ye Shuangluo was puzzled. Just a moment ago, she looked grateful, and now she seemed ready to kill him. What was going on?
As he was confused, the boy suddenly broke free from his mother’s grasp and ran to Ye Shuangluo, despite his mother’s terrified expression.
“Thank you, big brother.”
To show his gratitude, he even gave Ye Shuangluo his favorite grape-flavored lollipop.
“No need to thank me.”
Ye Shuangluo unwrapped the lollipop and put it in his mouth, thinking, What a polite kid, unlike a certain brat who shoots people randomly.
Yuan Yuan: Achoo! Achoo! Is someone thinking about me?
Ye Shuangluo had just taken a tour around Dragon City and found it wasn’t much different from Luo City. He even saw several monsters he had encountered in Luo City, like the garbage monster he had just frozen.
“If you litter and waste water and electricity, a garbage monster with water and electric arms will come for you. They say if the water arm touches you, you’ll turn into non-recyclable garbage of equal weight. If the electric arm touches you, you’ll become recyclable garbage of equal weight.”
Coming back to his senses, Ye Shuangluo looked at the anxious crowd standing in a line not far away and asked curiously, “Why haven’t you left yet?”
They were stunned for a moment, and someone tentatively asked, “Can we leave?”
“Your legs are your own. If you want to leave, just go. Do you need my permission?”
As soon as he said that, the crowd dispersed quickly, as if afraid Ye Shuangluo would change his mind.
“Goodbye, big brother.”
Even as he was being dragged away by his mother, the boy enthusiastically waved goodbye to him.
