Vol.1 – Chapter 28 – Protagonist: How did I become a fugitive?

Qin Fenghuo was the first to arrive at the Burial Immortal Mountain Range. Hundreds of golden talismanic runes paved the way, and any daring and bizarre creatures from the Forbidden Zone that attempted to ambush were instantly obliterated by the talismanic runes.

A Mountain Moving Realm sect master stepped out of his cave dwelling, gazing up at the talismanic runes suspended in the sky, and exclaimed in awe, “As expected of a peerless genius seen once in a millennium, the Empress’s cultivation level has become even more unfathomable.”

Beside him, a transformed great demon, bare-chested with arms crossed, remarked, “Just now, a peak Mountain Moving Realm bizarre creature was shot dead by a single rune. The power of such calligraphy can suppress the Burial Immortal Mountain Range. It seems the Empress is close to reaching that realm.”

When mentioning ‘that realm,’ the eyes of the human cultivators shone with hope and longing.

In the cultivation world, a Sea Covering Realm cultivator could command a region and become a hegemonic giant. A Moon Shine Realm cultivator could rule a nation or be invincible in a region.

As for the Morning Glow Realm, it was beyond imagination! In the Great Jin Dynasty, even sect masters who could establish their own sects would only refer to it as ‘that realm.’

“A single imperial edict suppressing the Forbidden Zone, how domineering. If nothing unexpected happens, the Empress will write an invincible legend,” a Great Being sighed.

“So young, her brilliance rivals that of an exiled immortal, not inferior to the ancient young deities,” said a foreign tribe leader.

About half a day later.

The army arrived at the Burial Immortal Mountain Range one after another. Thirty-three divine airships hovered in the sky, and hundreds of thousands of cultivators, clad in golden armor and wielding spiritual treasures, spread across the sky and ground, forming an ancient formation that covered the entire Forbidden Zone.

Additionally, dozens of Mountain Moving Realm and five Sea Covering Realm cultivators each led an elite squad to probe deep into the Forbidden Zone.

Qin Fenghuo, using the Divine Power of Heaven and Earth, constantly monitored the Forbidden Zone. At any sign of disturbance, he would immediately swing his long halberd to suppress it!

Meanwhile.

Deep within the Burial Immortal Forbidden Zone, atop an ancient divine mountain, a massive army stood tall, with the Zhao banner fluttering in the wind.

Zhao Yuhuan was on the verge of rage, glaring through the concealed formation at the enormous figure that seemed to fill the heavens and earth. He gritted his teeth and spat out three words, “Qin Fenghuo!”

“Can someone tell me why Qin Fenghuo is leading an army to besiege the Forbidden Zone and even brought the Empress’s imperial edict!?”

Where did it go wrong? It felt as if an invisible eye had been watching them all along, and all their plans had fallen into that eye’s grasp.

Otherwise, how could the Empress have discovered them?

This setup didn’t seem like they had traced their tracks; it was more like someone had tipped them off.

“Meng Qingzhou! It must be him!” Zhao Gou gritted his teeth in hatred.

“So, the rumors that he is the contemporary Sage are true?” Zhao Yuhuan’s face turned icy.

Zhao Gou lowered his head and whispered, “I didn’t take it seriously before, but now… I have to believe it.”

Who would have thought that the legendary Sage, who could foresee all under heaven, deduce the Mandate of Heaven, and glimpse the future and the past, actually existed!

“Good, good, good!”

Zhao Yuhuan, enraged to the point of laughter, said word by word, “The heavens are unfair to this king, placing a Sage by the Empress’s side. This king refuses to believe in fate! If the heavens want this king’s life, this king will fight against the heavens!”

“What of the Sage, what of the Empress! None can stop this king!”

Watching the frenzied King of Shu, Zhao Gou’s face turned bitter as he looked at the vast golden-armored divine soldiers filling the sky.

Zhao Gou’s feelings were beyond words.

“How did it come to this? With the Mandate of Heaven upon me, I should have lived a life of glory, easily defeating Great Jin, then winning the beauty, killing my rival, and uniting the world…”

“How did I become a fugitive…”

Zhao Gou was filled with hatred!

Their plans were thwarted, and the King of Shu and the Empress were about to have a life-and-death battle in the Burial Immortal Forbidden Zone. With his Cloud Ascension Realm cultivation, he had too little time to develop and couldn’t withstand the clash of these two titans.

The future looked bleak.

Meanwhile.

In the Capital of the Great Jin Dynasty, at the Qin residence.

Meng Qingzhou leisurely sipped tea, listening to Su Qingqiu’s report.

“According to the latest news, General Qin has already arrived at the Burial Immortal Mountain Range. An imperial edict has suppressed the Burial Immortal Forbidden Zone, causing a stir in all nations. Some speculate that the Empress might be close to reaching the Morning Glow Realm.”

“The golden-armored divine army, composed of three hundred thousand cultivators, has also arrived! They are searching for the whereabouts of the rebel Zhao Yuhuan!”

Su Qingqiu held a stack of letters, all messages from the border. As she tore open the last letter, she exclaimed in surprise, “Master, there’s good news!”

“A general under the rebel Zhao Yuhuan has been discovered. He attempted to ambush the golden-armored army but was killed by General Qin with a single strike!”

Meng Qingzhou turned his head to ‘look’ at Wu Die, who was kneeling beside him peeling an orange, and said, “Discovering the rebel’s whereabouts proves Zhao Yuhuan is in the Burial Immortal Mountain Range. You can stay by my side now. Don’t practice poison techniques anymore; they can easily backfire.”

Wu Die smiled sweetly, overjoyed. She held the peeled orange and brought it to Meng Qingzhou’s lips, saying, “Thank you, Master.”

Meng Qingzhou opened his mouth to take the orange, but Wu Die’s fingers moved forward slightly, her warm fingertips brushing his lips.

“Hehe!” Wu Die giggled playfully, sucking on her finger.

Seeing this, Su Qingqiu was displeased. She glanced at the seductive woman’s impressive assets and said, “Master! She’s seducing you!”

“Hey!” Meng Qingzhou waved his hand dismissively, “You’re exaggerating, you’re too sensitive, young lady.”

Wu Die provocatively raised her chin and picked up a grape, gently feeding it into Meng Qingzhou’s mouth.

Su Qingqiu stomped her foot and spat, “As a subordinate of the rebel, you still have unresolved suspicions. Don’t be too arrogant.”

“How am I being arrogant?” Wu Die’s tone was pitiful, her lips pouting in grievance, “I am grateful for the master’s great kindness and am willing to be a servant. I’ve always been proper and don’t understand why Sister Su is wronging me.”

Meng Qingzhou chuckled inwardly, maintaining a calm expression, and said, “Qingqiu, don’t bully Sister Wu Die. She just arrived and doesn’t know many rules. Be more accommodating.”

Su Qingqiu’s pretty face turned livid with anger. She turned away in a huff, but on second thought, leaving now would be admitting defeat.

Damn green tea!

How could this immortal lose to such a person!

With this in mind, Su Qingqiu followed suit, kneeling on the other side of Meng Qingzhou. She picked up a strawberry and fed it into his mouth, “Master, eat my strawberry!”

Not to be outdone, Wu Die offered a grape, “Master, eat my grape!”

Su Qingqiu glared at Wu Die and fed a cherry, “Master, eat my cherry!”

“Eat my orange!”

“Eat my banana!”

“Eat my bitter melon!”

Meng Qingzhou, who initially just wanted to watch the show, finally realized something was wrong. His mouth was stuffed with fruit, and he mumbled, “Stop, I’m full!”

At this moment, Dongfang Liuli returned. As she entered, she saw the two women kneeling beside Meng Qingzhou, vying to feed him fruit.

Dongfang Liuli crossed her arms, leaned against the doorframe, and sneered, “Minister Meng, you are quite fortunate. Do you need my service as well? After all, your position is higher than mine, and being a mere live-in son-in-law is too unfair for you, don’t you think?”

Meng Qingzhou was no fool. He immediately sensed the coldness in Dongfang Liuli’s tone. He quickly pushed the two women away, sat upright, and said calmly, “There’s no need for service. You’ve had a long day. How about I give you a massage instead?”
