Vol.3 – Chapter 9 – Dongfang Liuli’s Shock

The Northern Snow Plains, across from the headquarters of the Shizong Alliance, saw the Great Jin army setting up camp. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers trained tirelessly, with the outer perimeter patrolled personally by Wu Shangpin, the City Lord of Resist the North City.

At that moment, a powerful and overwhelming aura swept across the land for thousands of miles. Sword Sense of Time and Space, thunderous blade light, and the darkness of the Shadow Path intertwined, shaking the soldiers to their core, causing the mountains and land to tremble, and dimming the sun, moon, and stars.

Everyone was shocked and looked towards the source of the disturbance.

Even Dongfang Liuli and the court officials couldn’t stay seated. They soared into the sky and headed towards the source.

There, they saw Meng Qingzhou in a billowing black robe, holding Wang Xianjia by the neck with one hand, lifting him into the air. Swords formed from the River of Time and Space pointed at Wang Xianjia.

At Meng Qingzhou’s feet, the renowned Heavenly Strategy General Li Guanyan knelt, trembling.

The scene was truly shocking, leaving the court officials bewildered and terrified.

“What’s going on? Why is the Sword Saint fighting the Black-Robed Prime Minister? And why is the Heavenly Strategy General kneeling as if worshipping the Sword Saint?”

“Wait, did you notice? Wang Xianjia’s aura is unusual. He… he’s a half-step Heaven Supporting Realm Great Being! And Li Guanyan, he’s a late-stage Morning Glow expert!”

“These two have been hiding their strength. Did the Sword Saint discover their treachery and thus engaged in battle?”

“The Sword Saint subdued a half-step Heaven Supporting Realm and a late-stage Morning Glow expert on his own. Just how powerful is he?!”

Dongfang Liuli’s eyes flickered as she stared at Wang Xianjia and Li Guanyan, recalling Meng Qingzhou’s earlier warning to be wary of these two.

Half-step Heaven Supporting Realm…

Such power is already among the top in the Wilderness. At least for now, there are no known Heaven Supporting Realm supreme experts in the Wilderness!

Dongfang Liuli took a deep breath, finally realizing the terrifying nature of the forces behind the scenes.

Just two hidden agents were enough to sweep through the Wilderness and crush top experts.

So, what kind of terrifying power does the force behind them truly possess?

“Meng Qin, what’s going on?” Dongfang Liuli asked.

Though she had a rough idea of the truth, the others were still in the dark. She asked on their behalf to prevent any misunderstandings that might tarnish Meng Qingzhou’s reputation.

Meng Qingzhou smiled faintly, his fingers tightening around Wang Xianjia’s neck, causing it to creak as if about to snap. He said calmly, “Just a sparring session. Right, Li Guanyan?”

Li Guanyan, kneeling in terror, quickly nodded and stammered, “Yes! Master… I mean, Sword Saint, you’re right.”

“We just wanted to spar with the Sword Saint. In times of war, we should encourage diligent practice.”

Everyone watched silently, saying nothing.

This…

What a flimsy excuse. Look at the killing intent in the air and listen to your words. You even called him ‘Master’ by mistake. Sparring, really?

The court officials exchanged glances, vaguely sensing something, but they all shook their heads, not daring to comment.

The fact that the Space-Time Sword Saint could easily subdue a half-step Heaven Supporting Realm expert meant he stood at the pinnacle of the Wilderness!

He represented the strongest combat power!

This subtle message excited everyone present.

“The Empress’ Husband has reached such a realm without anyone knowing. Perhaps the Great Jin truly has a chance to unify the Wilderness,” thought Fan Chen, the Minister of Personnel.

Wu Shangpin, the City Lord of Resist the North City, looked at Wang Xianjia and Li Guanyan, then at Meng Qingzhou, and took a deep breath.

“I’ve long heard of the Space-Time Sword Saint’s extraordinary combat power, but I didn’t expect it to be this formidable!”

“And the Heavenly Strategy General, proud by nature, how could he serve Meng Qin as his master?”

“Strange! It seems our Sword Saint has many hidden cards.”

The ordinary soldiers revered him even more. The Space-Time Sword Saint’s reputation had already spread throughout the Wilderness. In the hearts of the Great Jin soldiers, the Sword Saint and the Empress were already synonymous.

Now, this scene hinted that the Sword Saint’s prestige might even surpass the Empress.

“So, it’s all just a misunderstanding?” Dongfang Liuli was equally shocked.

Though she knew Meng Qingzhou was strong, she never imagined he had advanced so far, leaving her far behind, making it hard to catch up.

This realization suffocated the Empress. She remembered the words Meng Qingzhou once said to her in the Ancient Divine City—”Together through the ages.”

The implied meaning was that he hoped the Empress could always walk side by side with him, with neither falling behind.

“But I’ve tried my best, breaking the seal on my Divine Soul, paying the price of my life, yet I still can’t catch up to you…” Dongfang Liuli felt bitterness for the first time.

Even as she approached the end of her life, she couldn’t do a small thing for Meng Qingzhou, which deeply frustrated the Empress.

Dongfang Liuli was a born emperor, with a personality completely different from ordinary women. She didn’t want to be a pampered jewel under a man’s protection.

She only wanted to protect her man or stand shoulder to shoulder with her beloved, overlooking the river of time together, standing on the same starting line, not being left far behind like a burden.

“Surrender or die, choose one.” Meng Qingzhou said coldly, the swords of Time and Space closing in on Wang Xianjia.

“Cough… Never, I’d rather die than yield!” Wang Xianjia’s face turned red as he resolutely declared.

Meng Qingzhou nodded, “Understood, then I’ll fulfill your wish.”

As he spoke, the Sword Sense of Time and Space pierced Wang Xianjia’s forehead, ending his life instantly.

“I won’t let you go even as a ghost,” Wang Xianjia shouted the classic villain line, kicked his legs, and died.

Everyone was shocked.

Hey, hey, hey, it was supposed to be a sparring match. How could you kill someone?

Even if everyone tacitly understood and vaguely guessed the truth, you should at least kill him discreetly.

“Truly fearless of death,” Meng Qingzhou smiled faintly, then turned and shouted in a certain direction, “If you’re really not afraid of death, why not come out and face me directly?”

Everyone was stunned, even Li Guanyan, who turned stiffly, eyes wide in disbelief. They saw a sneaky figure surrounded by the Sword Sense of Time and Space, forced out from the Shadow Path.

The Shadow Path, a divine power of stealth, was unparalleled in concealment.

If not for Meng Qingzhou’s mastery of space, he might not have discovered it.

“Uh…” The real Wang Xianjia smiled awkwardly, raised his hands, and tried to avoid the sharp swords of Time and Space.

“Not afraid of death?” Meng Qingzhou tilted his head and asked.

Wang Xianjia broke into a cold sweat and laughed awkwardly, “Afraid of death, but more afraid of dying in vain. Li Guanyan may be foolish, but he knows right from wrong. Perhaps you really are sent from above, and I wouldn’t want to die for nothing.”

Meng Qingzhou nodded, “Makes sense. So, what do you plan to do?”

Thud!

Without hesitation, Wang Xianjia knelt on both knees and respectfully kowtowed, “Master!”
