Vol.3 – Chapter 4 – You are the Emperor of Great Jin

The Northern Snow Plains erupted in a great battle, the terrifying waves of which dyed the entire universe blood-red. Giants formed by the Divine Power of Heaven and Earth wielded swords and sabers, roaring as if gods and demons had awakened.

The surrounding small and medium-sized forces were all frightened by the commotion, casting their gazes over.

“That’s… the Great Jin army! They’re fighting the Northern Sejong Alliance! A catastrophe, a catastrophe! Great Jin is trying to overturn the Wilderness and start a unification war with its own strength!”

“The Western Buddhist Kingdom and the Sejong Alliance have both been attacked by Great Jin, splitting their forces. The Empress has such audacity, does she intend to end the chaos early? But does Great Jin have that kind of strength?”

“Quickly report to the lord, the unification war of the Wilderness has fully erupted. No one can stay out of it; we must choose sides!”

“The chaos is about to begin, but I didn’t expect the one to initiate the final battle of the Wilderness to be the Great Jin Dynasty…”

Many powerful beings cast their gazes, seeing many details clearly. But what puzzled them was that in the center of the battlefield, two figures sat facing each other, playing a game of chess.

It was as if they considered all the living beings on the battlefield as their chess pieces, calmly playing amidst the Shura killing field.

“It’s the Space-Time Sword Saint Meng Qin, and… the Alliance Leader of the Sejong Alliance, Hai Lantian. What are they doing? The soldiers below are fighting to the death, and they’re chatting?”

“Something’s fishy. Let’s observe for now. The final battle may have started, but it won’t end in ten or eight years.”

“Meng Qin seems to have become stronger. The river of time and space he sits on has become wider. Unbelievable, just how strong is he now?”

“Not sure, probably limited. At most, mid-Morning Glow Realm. Facing Hai Lantian, who’s half a step into the Sky-Reaching Realm, he’s no match.”

Hai Lantian was very amiable, without a trace of an alliance leader’s arrogance. His words carried no ambition to conquer the world as he calmly said:

“Have you considered it?”

“This matter, you shouldn’t be asking me. The Empress of Great Jin is Qin Liuli. I am just a guest official now,” Meng Qingzhou said.

Hearing this, Hai Lantian chuckled, his eyes deep as he looked at Meng Qingzhou and said with a smile:

“Do you really not know your own identity?”

“What identity?” Meng Qingzhou feigned ignorance and quickly changed the subject, saying:

“Besides, with your current advantage, defeating Great Jin should be easy. Why the pretense? Just say it, what’s your real purpose?”

Hai Lantian squinted his eyes, sizing up Meng Qingzhou.

Does this guy really not know he’s the Emperor of Great Jin?

Or is he pretending to be ignorant, deliberately changing the subject?

“Defeat Great Jin… you underestimate the Empress,” Hai Lantian shook his head helplessly and said:

“I dare not push that madwoman too far. Since she dared to start the war, it means she has absolute confidence and assurance. Besides, even if I defeat Great Jin, then what?”

“Be used by the forces behind the scenes to continue fighting the Western Buddhist Kingdom like dogs?”

“As far as I know, the Buddha of the Western Buddhist Kingdom is about to take the final step and break through to the Sky-Reaching Realm! By then, who under the entire sky of the Wilderness can contend with him? I can’t, and neither can Great Jin. Only by joining forces can we have a fighting chance.”

Meng Qingzhou was somewhat surprised, not making a move for a long time, his brows slightly furrowed.

This Alliance Leader of the Sejong Alliance seemed unusual, possessing so much secret knowledge.

He knew Meng Qingzhou well, knew the Empress well, and even knew that the Buddha was about to break through to the Sky-Reaching Realm. He was almost omniscient about the intelligence of the three forces.

Appearing to be a do-nothing, but in reality, a master of intelligence?

“Withdraw your troops,” Meng Qingzhou sighed.

Hai Lantian’s eyes lit up, almost standing up in excitement, and said, “Really?”

“I mean, you withdraw your troops. When the Empress comes out of seclusion, I will convey your opinion to her. As for the decision, it has nothing to do with me,” Meng Qingzhou said calmly.

Hai Lantian frowned, somewhat displeased:

“Meng Qingzhou, do you really not know you’re the Emperor of Great Jin…”

“I know.”

Meng Qingzhou said calmly, but the river of time and space beneath him suddenly surged, the sharp Sword Sense clanging, revealing his inner turmoil.

Hearing this, Hai Lantian fell silent.

“You know?”

“It seems…”

Hai Lantian felt a surge of anger in his heart.

I’ve laid it out this clearly, and you have the authority to make a decision. I can’t persuade that madwoman of an Empress, but can’t you?

If you are willing, it’s just a matter of a word. Why must it come to mutual destruction, letting others reap the benefits?

“I’m telling you to leave for your own good,” Meng Qingzhou suddenly said, “Look back and see how many of your Morning Glow Realm experts are left.”

Hai Lantian was stunned, then turned around in shock, extending his Divine Sense.

Originally over twenty Morning Glow Realm Great Beings, now only fifteen were left! Seven or eight had died silently, assassinated.

“The forces you mentioned behind the scenes have already reached out. Someone is fanning the flames. This war cannot be stopped just because you and I wish it so.”

“Go back. Let me deal with the hidden forces’ plants first, then we’ll talk.”

Hai Lantian suddenly felt a chill on his neck, his pupils slightly contracting.

He had thought those hidden plants wouldn’t be too strong, but now he realized… he was gravely mistaken! To silently assassinate Morning Glow Realm Great Beings under his nose, they must be at least half a step into the Sky-Reaching Realm!

Just one hidden plant had the combat power of half a step into the Sky-Reaching Realm. How powerful were the forces behind the scenes?

“I understand. Thank you for informing me,” Hai Lantian said solemnly, clasping his fists.

Then, he lightly waved his hand, took a step back, and his whole body seemed to merge into water, disappearing with a ripple in space.

Afterward, the people of the Northern Sejong Alliance began to retreat, stopping only at a mountain range a thousand miles away, standing on the horizon, their god-like bodies watching from afar.

In a shadow, the Black-Robed Prime Minister Wang Xianjia walked out, puzzled:

“What’s going on? Why did the Sejong Alliance retreat?”

Li Guanyan silently wiped his blade, cleaning off the blood and sheathing it, shaking his head:

“Not sure. I just saw Hai Lantian and Meng Qin talking, and then they left.”

The two had been happily hunting Morning Glow Realm Great Beings.

Suddenly, the battle stopped, one side retreating unhurriedly, the other watching without urgency.

This left them both very confused.

At this moment, a voice suddenly sounded behind them: “Gentlemen, it seems you still don’t believe me.”

“Who?”

Wang Xianjia’s skin prickled, turning around warily, only to see Meng Qingzhou in black, holding the Cicada Song sword, tearing through the space barrier and walking out.

“I didn’t even notice. How is that possible?” Wang Xianjia was shocked, sweat beading on his forehead.
