Vol.2 – Chapter 38 – The truth and the destruction of enemies

The battle raged on, with four ancient spirit projections besieging Pu Lingzi alone.

The aftermath of the great battle crushed the mountains, forming a massive basin. If not for the protective formation around the Imperial Capital, it would have been reduced to ruins.

The fierce Yan Luo roared, bathed in blood, eyes red with fury, swinging his axe wildly without any technique left.

The Old Ancestor of the Pu family swung his palm furiously, unable to comprehend why his descendants, so powerful, had to become servants of the Ji family. He needed to vent his rage.

“How is this possible? How is this possible!” The founding Emperor of Great Qian gradually went mad, his body torn apart, his projection on the verge of dissipating. He was unwilling, unable to avenge the people of Great Qian.

Only the Taichu Emperor remained high-spirited, his wild blade slashing in all directions, barely holding his own against Pu Lingzi.

“Pu Lingzi, stop playing around. Finish these projections quickly. I’m sure the Young Master is very interested in Meng Qingzhou’s Dao principles and can’t wait any longer,” the Yin-Yang Elder said with a smile.

Pu Lingzi’s aura grew increasingly violent. Although his realm was still at the late stage of the Morning Glow Realm, his every move seemed capable of tearing the heavens and earth apart.

Despite being able to easily kill these projections now, Pu Lingzi continued to grind them down slowly.

“I have died four times, which means I have transformed four times, been severely injured eleven times, and experienced eleven rebirths. I am now dozens of times stronger than before!”

Pu Lingzi’s black hair danced wildly, resembling a demon lord.

The ancient projections looked incredulous, even despairing. An enemy who was immortal and grew stronger with each death and severe injury was inherently unbeatable.

“In life, I roamed the Wilderness, a tiger among men. I never expected to encounter such a formidable enemy after death,” the projection of Emperor Sheng’en of Great Qian slowly dissipated, finally returning to the river of history.

Emperor Sheng’en of Great Qian ultimately couldn’t avenge his people, his lingering will completely worn away.

The blood blade in Taichu Emperor’s hand shattered, and he said disdainfully, “If my realm weren’t so low, merely at the Moon Shine Realm, no matter how many times you revived, I could still cut you down.”

Only the fierce demon lord remained silent, continuously attacking without pause.

“Enough, I’m done playing with you,” Pu Lingzi said, raising his elbow and delivering a thunderous punch that obliterated the fierce demon lord, reducing him to ashes.

In the Imperial Capital, the common people strained their eyes, hands shading their brows, barely able to see Pu Lingzi’s terrifying aura and hear the despairing words of the ancient projections.

Fear began to spread among the populace, with negative discussions filling the streets and alleys:

“These two Morning Glow Great Beings are from Sky State, under the command of the Second Young Master of the Ji family. It seems the Ji family wants to settle accounts with Great Jin.”

“Just one person can kill several Old Ancestors combined. Don’t forget, another old man has been watching and hasn’t even joined the fight yet.”

“An immortal enemy, how can we possibly win? Is Sky State really this powerful?”

“That was the founding Emperor of Great Jin, and even he couldn’t win, utterly defeated. Is Great Jin going to fall today?”

“Great Jin has endured countless hardships, but in the end, it still can’t escape destruction? Damn heavens, how unfair you are!”

In Present Village, at the Green Tiles Small House.

Sister Qiong, who had changed her appearance and clothing, was ready to assist Meng Qingzhou at any moment. But now, she frowned, looking at Pu Lingzi, murmuring to herself, “Immortal… Have humans achieved this after developing for tens of thousands of years?”

Sister Qiong felt an invisible pressure. The speed of human development was too rapid. Today, they were even deducing the Dao essence of ancient gods and demons.

“The enemy is too strong. Master can’t handle this alone!” Sister Qiong was about to take action.

“Wait, Qingzhou’s expression seems… confident,” the Empress raised her hand to stop her, her phoenix eyes unblinkingly watching Meng Qingzhou’s back.

Outside the Imperial Capital.

Meng Qingzhou’s lips curved into a faint smile, his voice rich and gentle, calmly saying, “Seniors, take a rest. Leave the rest to me.”

“You?” The Old Ancestor of the Pu family glanced sideways, disdainfully saying, “Youngster, I’m not trying to discourage you, but as someone in the same Moon Shine Realm, you probably can’t last a single round against Pu Lingzi, let alone hope to defeat him, who is now in the late stage of the Morning Glow Realm and has undergone multiple transformations.”

The Taichu Emperor remained silent, not speaking up for Meng Qingzhou, as he also believed that Meng Qingzhou alone couldn’t possibly defeat Pu Lingzi. The gap between them was too vast.

Meng Qingzhou smiled and said, “What’s the harm in trying?”

With that, Meng Qingzhou ignored the ancient projections, stepping into the void, walking straight towards Pu Lingzi.

“Meng Qingzhou, are you here to die?” Pu Lingzi’s smile was wild and mocking.

“I’m here to kill you,” Meng Qingzhou’s smile was serene as he said, “Immortal? Heh… I don’t believe it.”

“If you were truly immortal, would Ji Wushuang allow you to possess such a heaven-defying Dao principle? Ji Wushuang didn’t take it, which means he deemed it unworthy to incorporate into his own Dao.”

“Am I right?”

Pu Lingzi’s expression froze, falling silent, not refuting, because it was the truth.

As a subordinate of Ji Wushuang, any Dao principle not taken could only mean one thing… it wasn’t worthy.

“Your technique shouldn’t be called Three Pure Ones Returning to Origin; it should be called—Divine Demon Body.”

Meng Qingzhou continued, “You deliberately explained it as an immortal Dao principle, growing stronger with each battle. All of that is true, except for one lie—that your Divine Soul is immortal.”

“Ninety percent truth, with one lie, making your opponents believe it.”

Pu Lingzi’s face turned completely dark, but he didn’t lose his composure, sneering, “Heh… nonsense. I’m standing right here. Go ahead, use your soul-destroying divine power and see if you can kill me.”

As he spoke, Pu Lingzi actually opened his spiritual platform, leaving it wide open for attack.

Such a bold move might have shaken the confidence of an ordinary person.

But who was Meng Qingzhou? A man holding the script. He smiled confidently, holding a three-foot sword, extending his arm and pointing the sword… directly at the Yin-Yang Elder!

“What… are you doing?” Pu Lingzi suddenly became flustered, his face changing drastically.

“Your Divine Soul isn’t in this flesh body. This so-called Divine Demon Body is just an empty shell. Your Divine Soul has been hiding in the Yin-Yang Elder all along. Am I right?”

Meng Qingzhou’s smile remained, but to Pu Lingzi, it looked like a devil grinning, sending chills down his spine.

With a swift thrust, Meng Qingzhou pierced the Yin-Yang Elder’s head, but no blood flowed. The elder stood there, stunned, and in the next moment, his body deflated like a punctured balloon, leaving only a shriveled human skin. A fist-sized Divine Soul frantically tried to escape.

“Time-Space Cage, capture!” Meng Qingzhou gestured from a distance, and the Divine Soul was instantly restrained.
